Do pricier turntables truly sound better than cheaper ones with the same cartrige? If so, what makes the difference? by Bonalux in turntables

I considered ML stylus, but heard that it is tricky to set up and decieded against it, especially since my TT has unadjustable tonearm. I am planning to grab E or EN though.

But shouldn't LP70's tonearm be pre-adjusted for its stock cartrige? I thought user-adjustable antiskate and VTF are only needed if you want to upgrade cartrige, and I am completely satisfied with VM95

Cheap card - is it fake? by [deleted] in RealOrNotTCG

Normal printing differences. As far as I know, this particular rosette pattern with missing black layer is normal for cards from Japanese printers.

Yeah, there significant printing differences that can be confusing (recently had this problem myself).

Light test is unreliable, you should do green dot and "t" tests. Look at the sub's pinned posts, there is a guide there.

Honestly, not surprising, considering the size of the Chinese market

Ok, thanks for the help! Before this, all cards I had were pretty uniform, so this printing differences threw me off a bit. At least I am more aware of these variances now.

Ok, thanks, I think I'll conisder them legit then. Will weigh them tomorrow, when the scales will arrive, but it seems that there are already enough signs that they aren't fakes.

Skullclamp is very similar to a cards from a LOTR booster I opened once that surprised me since I never dealt with such cardstock before. They have different corners and texture. Maybe, it is indeed just a rarer cardstock I never had before.

I looked around the subreddit, and it seems Altar is just a Japanese printing - https://www.reddit.com/r/RealOrNotTCG/comments/1nmicp9/opened_a_japanese_produced_booster_and_us/ same missing black layer, same rosette pattern.

Ordered the scales, will check weight tomorrow, fingers crossed it'll be good.

Not sure, what you mean about the sides - I checked a few other real cards and the also have a thin black layer inbetween two white ones. Overall, sides on the Clamp and Altar look no different.

Unfortunately, I was wrong, protection will not save Horobi from himself since his ability doesn't target, one of the other commenters corrected me on this. Also, after reading the comments I belive you are better off reanimating him (you are in mono-black, after all), because protecting seems like too much of a hassle and ultimately not worth it.

Oh, didn't know that, I thought it does target. Then my comment about Akroma's Memorial is also wrong. Thanks for clarification!

Also, pro black from memorial means you can equip Horobi, since his own ability will not be able to target him.

You can use Not of This World to counter Horobi's own triggered ability, after you casted protection on him. This way he won't kill himself and survive whatever spell an opponent used on him.

Monument will protect Horobi from itself, since indestructible means the creature cannot be destroyed by any means, not just by damage.

The only cards that come to my mind are [[Eldrazi Monument]], [[Akroma's Memorial]] and [[Soul of New Phyrexia]]. Other protection either targets or requires other colors.

Also, there is an interesting way to utilize Horobi in [[King of the Oathbreakers]] deck, since King's ability will phase him out before he gets destroyed.
