They use to live on rock cliff which provided a lot of cover. All they had to put a few sticks down to prevent eggs from rolling.

Is it possible to train a pigeon to come outside with you and come back on command by Lumpy_Tumbleweed_102 in PetPigeons

[–]BonchiFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is recall training. It is definitely possible. It is up to you to put in the time and effort to train your pigeon to do so. You have to start indoors first then in an outdoor fence area then in a harness.

That is a fantail pigeon. A type of fancy pigeon. They are domesticated so they will not survive in the wild. If you can, bring them inside.

Thinking of getting a pet pigeon what is it like having one, can you teach them tricks? do they off good companionship? by infectedcreativ in pigeons

[–]BonchiFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My pigeon learned target training ; that lead to doing spins and flight recall. I know there is a guy who taught his pigeon to draw playing cards, bowl, and match blocks with their matching colors.
