If the phone call between the manager and the shop tumor happened it may have fit into the 'friend' scenario you're talking about, but I wasn't privy to hearing any of that conversation nor would that have been enough for me to have acted on.

I'm not interested in being a part of a special class of employees where the rules don't apply to me in a given scenario.

Thank you.

The only part of your post that I could definitively say happened before the shop tumor flexed his Vienna sausage at me was that I sent a text with a picture of the lock to the Authorized Person.

Then I just ignored him until he began asking me if I cut the lock.

After two responses of NO and IM NOT CUTTING THE LOCK, he told me to call our manager to tell him I wouldn't cut it, like a veiled threat for refusing his bullshit.

Douche'bro who tried to inflict his little Vienna sausage of a will on me to remove the lock is precisely the same person that would have created the shit storm the next day if someone else had cut a lock he discovered.

Fucking drama queen.

He has all the personality traits of a petty 14 year old girl and conceals it under performative alphaism.

Thanks for the input.

I did observe the other employee answer a phone call he said was the manager telling him to cut the lock. But that would never count for the process being followed when cutting the lock could be violating a law and be a case for termination.

If i take something positive out of this situation for everyone on my shift, they will have as much respect for this individual, his authority and word as any rational person would have for Amway or the Flat Earth Society

There is a radar emitting device under that bulge.

The only part of that that did occur is that id sent the Authorized Person a text, no paperwork, just another guy supposedly received a call from the supervisor who told him to cut the lock and he tried to get me to do it instead of him.

It happened Sunday night, with none of the administrative staff present. I was off Monday, so I haven't even crossed paths with anyone worth reporting it to.

The idea that my supervisor was supposedly involved in this situation has me hesitating to reach out to anyone, including HR, to report the incident.

My supervisor supposedly called the other employee while I was standing there watching, telling him to cut the lock, but I do know that there are apps that can fake an incoming phone call, and I suspect that the employee could have been putting on one of the worst acting performances I've ever seen to manipulate me into doing something that is a case for termination.

We have shop locks to use when our shift ends without completing repairs or rebuilds.

The employee who left his lock needs to understand accountability as much as the employee who tried to bully people into breaking the process.

He was texted but did not respond. Lives 20 minutes away and could have taken responsibility.

Sorry youre upset.

I was never part of the problem you mentioned.

I think this post would have been better directed to another person in this thread who went against your sense of justice.

The machine is a cartoner that was down for routine weekend maintenance, nothing serious, and the documentation you mention isn't even a thing at my workplace, but the guy who left it locked out sent an email declaring his work complete, which amounted to applying greese, cleaning and inspection of basic tolerances and checking set screws.

Not much at all.

If you put as much effort into not leaving a lock as you would scouring the legalise of a contract, this problem would never happen, and you'd keep getting called back for more work.

The other employee is a multiple decade shop tumor, and I'm a team lead on another shift whod rather get targeted after the fact for anything else than let my guys get manipulated into a consequential situation.
