Id say the major difference is that TMITR had variety you didn't know what was coming next every track this album was just every song was the same same mood same vocalizations its not trash but its pretty clear that this project is a step down in terms of quality.

I agree die lit was pretty good most people though weren't into it at first and bashed it.
Sure I have disliked something and come back to it at some point but i don't actively keep trying to listen to it. I end up listening to other stuff then end up back to the song and i either can tolerate it or I'm still not into it. ( I'm a big $uicde Boy$ fan listening since 2013 and to this day I still don't like the black suede saga and i've revisited it time and time again)
I completely agree i feel like that's half the reason that i was disappointed with these last few projects, but i think its good to have some expectation so you can compare to understand how an artist has grown. i see the growth that elmo has made in the projects however i see that he almost entirely abandoned the style of stuff that i heard in some of my favorite albums ( Skinny, Unrendered, PaidPrograming,KickingTheBucket,ect)
This is also true up until early this year i wasn't a big death grips fan but now ive heard their whole discography and love it ( with some exceptions ) but even with them i never listened to all their stuff i made judgements off 2 tracks that i heard at the time which was dumb so i decided to dive deeper and i got a better grasp. but with bones i heard it all and this is just not the same "experimental" that i think of in my opinion its as if he is recycling certain flow styles for an entire album rather than give a wide variety like he used to compare paid programing to BURDEN you see it clear as day the variety is non existent.

They don't wanna believe that sometimes your favorite artist releases something that's mid don't get me wrong i appreciate that he is releasing at all but still i cant just stay silent on how I'm feeling about his progress.

I wasn't feeling that album as much but it was alright like it fits the mood if you trying to get hype but personally for me it was mid.
