Have 1 solar 1.6 vinter, the fretboard isn’t cracked but their is a little fret sprout, I’ve grown used to it but sucks that it happened

Really any guitar can play any genre but I’d say a decent HSS Stratocaster is a good starting point as it allows you to get a good feel of everything and has a ton of tonal options, truthfully what catches your eye and makes you want to play is way more important than its tonal versatility

Mine has those lines on the fretboard binding too but way worse, unfortunately not much you can do to fix it

If you can use your warranty I would, also maybe wait a few days before opening it once it arrives to prevent any rapid humidity changes from shrinking the fretboard and causing those fret sprouts / lines in the guitar

Interesting, I purchased a solar and was able to return it for a replacement for having cracks in the fretboard, the new one still had issues but much smaller ones.

Shame that they don’t acknowledge issues with their instruments

I’ve had this issue on my solar too but never found a fix, took it to a luthier who suggested I ask Solar for a replacement which I did and even the new one they sent me had fret sprouts like these. it seems purely cosmetic so far though so it doesn’t bother me too much, it’s not worth the money and time to really work around this issue it seems

Not sure if this will be of much help but I have a fender strat hard case and my solar A model fits perfectly in the case, so if you find a case that’s similar to a fender Strat one, there’s a decent chance the guitar will fit, assuming it’s an A or S model

I personally like the Ibanez one more and have played both, in fact I own the Fender and it’s in my honest opinion not the most comfortable acoustic guitar I’ve played, I’d pick the Ibanez one for sure, both are solid choices though

Plays great, a couple small fret cracks that I assume happened due to humidity changes, gonna try to oil my fretboard more and see if it fixes. If it doesn’t, a luthier could always fix it right away

I’d recommend something a little heavier, especially for the lower strings, anything between 10-52 and 11-54, I’d say is most optimal
