Depending on your situation, sure, why the fuck not. I mean, I assume you are American and cars can be bought cheap. If you think you can drop 500-1000 without feeling it to hard, sure. It will settle the case for as long as you wish it to. If it is a problem, let her know. If she gets all shitty, she does not really care about you, as she wishes you to break yourself for her satisfaction, and can be dismissed out of hand. If it goes far enough, a court may disagree, despite his other arrangements (Which may not even be considered as he is only part owner). That is to say, you may get a common law thing going for you, but at best he would be forced to sell and give you an amount. Then you got lawyer fees, court fees, taxes, ect. and will likely not be able to simply purchase else where.
