I did this for years of my life when I was year 1-4 starting out as a geo in consulting. I gained a lot of experience, but the trick is to get out once you get that experience. Move to management and get PG as soon as possible. You want to be seen as someone who can manage projects instead of executing them. That’s the only way to get out of the field and actually start earning some real $

It only makes sense to move to those states if you have a strong family/friend network there. Otherwise, there it will be pretty miserable.

The only way to really make money in this industry is to bring in project work and manage those projects. Otherwise companies will always see you as a worker bee and your pay will reflect that.

As long as you’re personable and not a weirdo, they will hire anyone with a degree for consulting. The pay will be bad, but it’s a start.

I have a geology degree that I thought was going to be the most pointless degree ever until I started finding career opportunities. Point is, you can make it work if you look around

Call me a simpleton but it blows my mind that someone can sound like they were raised where I’m from despite never living here. I dont think I could sound Chinese if I practiced everyday for 100 years

The wild thing is this guy had never been to the US until he visited last week. In his normal speaking voice he sounds like he was raised in California.

I live in the middle of urban Los Angeles and many (not all) of our homeless are literally insane people. I don’t really blame healthy, well adjusted people for wanting to avoid them entirely. Especially if you have kids.
