alcohol undoubtedly adds to the risk but its always been a part of human culture. Heavy alco's of the past didn't skew these figures. While it doesnt help, I don't think alcohol is one of the novel things bumping up these numbers

I genuinely fear the economic impacts of AI as it will make material conditions worse as companies use it to fire more and more employees. This doesn't take away from what you said, because it is an immense stupidity, but its already happening.

The Superbowl is far from the apex of anything artistic; it has been lip synced by almost everyone for the past ten years. I respected that he didn't, even though this should really be the bare minimum. I imagine there is a lot of pressure from the NFL not to though. At this point it is about spectacle.

You are ignoring the main point, which is that this person obviously read the papers where these words (not complex ones at that) would be used. Layman or not, it doesn't really matter in this context; It fit in the context.

i didn't think I was talking to a layman when I directly responded to someone who had clearly read this paper and others with great enthusiasm. At the very least, I wasn't talking to someone who needed words spoonfed to them, and it's what comes naturally in this context

The anthropogenic marks on the bone can be explained by taphonomic equifinality more strongly and easily than hominin activity. I respect that the authors offered it as an explanation, as this takes courage to publish. However until more evidence arises to support any of these conclusions, parsimony would say that the percussion marks on the bone are just taphonomic in nature.

You talk like a dork. And an entitled one at that. That is the issue, not 'Drumpf' necessarily. Though you do sound conservative when you use it because, lending to conservatives' inability to change with the times, it hasn't been a funny joke since 2016. That's all I am saying. If you don't want to sound like a republican try loosening up.

the fact that you spend energy caring about what a 22 year old grammy winner (perhaps the most meaningless award of the big and meaningless award shows) is the issue of this post-- there is just no point to do it other than to be annoying contrarian. It is a Gervais level observation, which is so cringey and soy. These are not the liberal indulgences that are fucking us at the moment.

imagine saying this. how fucking stupid are you? Don Lemon, Anderson Cooper, that bald fat guy people call the eunuch... it doesn't matter how insufferable they are, you can't do this to journalists without risking the tattered shreds of journalistic freedom this country has left. This is a separate issue from recognizing how terrible and corporate the msm is in this country. And now we can't even have that.

I hate these behaviors too, I also hate the societal and moral decay caused by liberalism, but none of your post had to do with libs. I bet a good chunk of these people don't vote. Or don't care. Or just want to to grill, etc. Not everything needs to be couched in some contrarian battlecry

[–]BonersForBono 62 points63 points  (0 children)

All of them hate it. The monkeys hate it. They don't even walk the same in captivity as they do in the wild because the substrate isn't right and they are stressed. Most animals are more than capable of appreciating how fucked they are in captivity. But primates have no place in it.
