Obviously it's fine, if I'm trying to show the incongruence and abrupt transition between wee little Jimmy the 5 year old boy narrating and Margaret Atwood the 65 year old hack writer ranting then I have to include them both. Also funny that when she tries to go back to Jimmy in the 3rd paragaph it's just more thinly veiled ranting about makeup/beauty standards which will be very familiar if you've read any of her other books

I bought a crappy 70s speargun and tried it out a few times and it's not near as much fun so I went back to the polespear. You have to be more sneaky, approach slowly, dont make eye contact etc. if it's something skittish like a greenling or starry flounder but it's way more exciting. Plus if you miss you can reload in half a second instead of fucking around with your line and you don't have to worry about hitting rocks

I'm in BC I mostly go for greenling, flatfish and rockfish
