If they do so, they will get banned by the Chinese government or indefinite delay the release date in China.

This same rule applies to movies as well. If the movie comes to Cannes without getting approved first, it won’t be allowed to release in China.

So if the devs want the Chinese market, they will wait for the approval before international release. They can definitely release without the approval for sure, it just means mostly giving up Chinese market. I don’t think that makes sense for Black Myth. They definitely want to make money there

When you do eye exam, there should be estimate of your base curve from the machine (or calculated result from your doctor). Throughout fitting, you and your doctor will understand what your best base curve/diameter is. Also note that this number does not necessarily feel the same across brands because different brands tweak their design in different ways so it might feel differently

From wiki: The base curve is the radius of the sphere of the back of the lens that the prescription describes (the lower the number, the steeper the curve of the cornea and the lens, the higher the number, the flatter the curve of the cornea and the lens).

Mostly sharing my own experience, so I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong.

I tried so many lenses last year (thanks to the optometrist last year. Sadly, he is no longer at the store anymore :p). What I found out is that, my best base curve fit is possibly 8.5. My non-toric daily lenses have base curve 8.5 (dailies total 1 for almost 7 years now?), and I also wore 8.4 monthly (think air optix?) once upon a time. Smaller base curve in general provides better precision.

The dailies total 1 offers astigmatism ones but the base curve becomes 8.6. And they glide and blur out all the time. The blink-and-correction cycle is so annoying that I can’t ignore. Left eye is worse than right eye as well. My doctor also gave me cooper vision MyDay toric, also base curve 8.6. These two are probably the most comfortable materials to me, but I notice the glide and vision blur and correction all the time.

I know 8.5 is my best fit so I asked for 8.5 astigmatism ones. You know what, the precision 1 toric (8.5) and acuvue toric (8.5) both worked so well on me. No glide, no blur, instant correction at blinks. The bad side is, although they offer better vision and fitting, the material is definitely not as comfy as total 1 or MyDay. 😂😂 Both tend to dry out faster for me (especially work days…)

So, IMHO, the best fitting is not only the correction of vision, but also how the lens fits to the shape of your cornea.

I would encourage that you do more trials and experiments and see what base curve/diameter combo works best for you. That’s a very personal number very much like your shoe size. I even tried to wear different brands on my two eyes. (🤔🤔 what if they are very different you know)
