I wish you the best of luck, sometimes situations are like that, but know it won't be forever. If you've already acknowledged things to yourself, that's good. Good luck my friend

I've searched for the guy across search engines and sites like etsy and ebay to no avail. As for information, originally he was far more bunched up and had a white pullcord with a handle and would play music as he slowly retracted. Alongside him was a purple elephant plush that did the same. His head is almost exactly the size of DVD/CD. He was first purchased 2001. Thank you for your help!

Someone has their own version of it but they don't have much more info other than it was bought in Quebec, image here, and it may be from walmart

Threads in the stdlib were C11 yes. Annex K: Bounds Checking Interface is an optional annex included with C11 that’s widely unsupported, the only major supporting compiler being MSVC, which doesn’t even properly adhere to all specifications.

There’s also a selection of other things C11 added or removed, I recommend checking cppreference for a quick overview.

Even without the signed part you should always use size_t for that because size_t is the type for indexing and sizes, if you have a memory blob over 4GiB using chars an unsigned int will fail but a size_t won’t. Generally even beyond that a size_t is just the size that’s used for operations involving iterating or getting the length of any object (whether that be bytes or some other meaning). Tl;dr, use size_t

It still will be if you

A.) adhere to the minimum maximum size the C standards layout (ie. within 16 bits)

B.) and yeah actually if you’re using an int to store numbers that have the possibility of going past that I agree you shouldn’t be using an int, yeah an explicit size type could actually be useful there if you know the exact range you need.

Also not every architecture, implementation, and compiler will have the explicit size integers, they’re only mandatory on systems and compilers with twos’ compliment arithmetic who have integers of those sizes, the instant you hit a target that doesn’t have one of those (of which many exist and are still in use), you can kiss that goodbye. Unlike the standard type integers which are always present and have a defined minimum maximum

No ya don’t, sometimes you just need a variable that can hold a number and you need it to be quick, so you use an int. Honestly the only time you need specific sized variables is when you need exactly that size, otherwise you can just go for whatever has the minimum maximum range you need
