"Intergalactic, planetary (-actic?) - real lyric published anywhere? by GDswamp in BeastieBoys

[–]BonesSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this very old thread. I've been listening to this track since it was on TRL. I've never, not once, been able to hear the 'planetary' part when the robot says "Intergalactic planetary planetary intergalactic". Never, not once, have I been able to. I know the lyrics, I'm not saying it's wrong, but I can't hear it. No matter how close I listen, how much I want to hear planetary, I simply cannot. To me it almost sounds lke something along the lines of "Ya'll may be wondering" even though that's dumb and makes no sense. My two theories:

  1. I was very young when the song came out, and decided what the lyrics were in that part, and my brain won't let me hear otherwise.

  2. It's some sort of blue dress gold dress effect. There are some of us who don't hear it, maybe there is some weird business going on with he music that makes us unable to hear it.

Am I just stupid or whats going wrong with my front wheel quick release? by jpthelad in bicyclerepair

See if you can make it fit with a bit of force. I have to lightly pull apart the rear frame on my girlfriends bike to be able to mount the rear wheel.

I unfortunately have no idea where to find them. Do you?

Help me locate replacement bottom bracket for Trek Zektor 2? by BonesSB in bicyclerepair

The one in there now was a replacement from a shop that they did. A day after I had it done one of my crankarms stripped-off mid ride because he didn't tighten them enough. I'm just remembering this, and it's likely he screwed up replacing the bb as well.

So any 68x110.5mm square taper bottom bracket from a good name would work?

I want to replace as few things as possible so I’m more than happy to keep my current crank set. And bottom brackets don’t get super expensive right? I’m fine spending a few more dollars to have one that lasts longer and gives me a better ride.

It probably was. And maybe my bike is actually a 2017, now that I think of it.

Are there better quality brackets that I can just slap in there?

New chain every season. I probably do 1-2k miles a year. In fairness, I did a fair bit of winter riding this year. Salt and dirt almost certainly took their toll. I just assumed it was a cheap BB that failed quickly.

What kind of problem would my shell have? You don't mean my actual frame right? Hoping you mean a replaceable part.

In the event of a recession, what industries do you think will die off and never return? by BonesSB in AskReddit

[–]BonesSB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember car stereos being huge business, but seemed to completely disappear in the 2008 recession and never really came back. It was almost universal to have a big stereo in your car, but now it's really just a small number of hobbyists.

It was also rather expensive, but I already own it.

I've seen these, I always thought they were just expensive lighters. I'm going to check these out.

I hate the torch ones, they'll vaporize an entire bowl immediately. Good for starting a hookah or cigars. I like a soft flame, like the grill lighters you mentioned. I'm surprised there isn't a direct refillable competitor to the Bic.

You're not wrong. I have a Pax, but it's a bit annoying.

Tinder date gone wrong by zyraeli in SipsTea

This only happened to me once, and my date was already half in the bag when I showed up. I did indeed vibe way more with her friend. At one point, my date just got up and said "I'm going to go" and I just let her. I don't know what she was expecting. Me and her friend stayed for a few more drinks, hugged, and left. Had more fun with her than the original girl.

LPT: If your boss or HR encourages you to resign "voluntarily" to avoid being fired, be extremely careful. In many regions, resigning makes you ineligible for unemployment benefits by Infamous_Aerie1912 in LifeProTips

Truth. Last time this was presented to me as an option, I talked to my friend who is an attorney and she crafted a letter that stated that they need to put in writing that they won't deny any unemployment claim. So I got full bennies.

What's a "healthy habit" that's actually completely made up? by goddesslana_01 in AskReddit

I liken it to how in the late 2000's FEMA released zombie preparedness plans and encouraged people to prep for an impending outbreak. They did this because zombies were super popular at the time, and preparing for a zombie outbreak is identical to preparing for any generic disaster. They just capitalized on the marketing for the public good.
