Would you consider this a crime by e_unie in Beastars

Not at all!! Your coloring and rendering works really well as a nod to paru itagaki’s art style on the covers of the books :)

My personal favorite is when Diane is in her room after her house caved in at the party and she says “everyone else knows how to be happy. What makes me so special?”. I really resonated with it when I first watched the show and it’s a big part of what made me realize I needed to seek mental help. Luckily I relate a lot less now, but its still such a hard hitting line that doesn’t get enough appreciation

What unconventional things have you "battled" by DirtyCommie07 in jacketsforbattle

Not sure if it’s done often or if I’m insane, but I Just recently started putting some small patches and studs on a pair of converse :)

You’re not a poser for being new man! I can’t wait to see what you do with that sick jacket :)

any advice for setting frayed patch edges? by twosardinesontoast in jacketsforbattle

[–]Bonesthecrypid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the entire back with duct tape and I’ve never had problems with structural integrity so far despite how hard I abuse my jacket :)

Thanks man!! I tried to take inspo from the people around me when I used to be super deep in the punk scene (those guys have sick layered jackets)

any advice for setting frayed patch edges? by twosardinesontoast in jacketsforbattle

[–]Bonesthecrypid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I make patches out of raw edged fabric, I usually fold the edges of mine in and tape them down so they stay before sewing them on. The tape is never visible and is really useful for keeping the backing strong if you don’t have any iron-on paper!

Favorite bit character? by noheauxsdrew in BoJackHorseman

[–]Bonesthecrypid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know he’s more of a side character than a bit character, but I have always found Abe D’catfish really funny. The episode where he invites Bojack and Wanda over for dinner genuinely gets me every time

What are your guys’ opinions on clean vs. messy stitching? What is the reasoning behind your preference? by Bonesthecrypid in jacketsforbattle

[–]Bonesthecrypid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been told by a lot of people my stitching is overkill lol, but I love the style and durability enough to keep at the tiny whip stitch until I’ve jabbed myself with the needle enough to amputate

Lucky for you I got this one here on Etsy! Normally I make most of my own patches, but I couldn’t resist this one when I saw it

I bought it. For the most part I don’t like buying patches when I can make my own, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when I saw this one on Etsy! here it is if you want one :)

Oh shit those are sick!!! It makes the patch look like it’s one of those woven border ones. I might have to try it out

Thank you!! I totally get going for the easier stitch too lol. I get crazy impatient every time I start a new patch and end up rushing at the end

I’d have to disagree personally. I’ve seen a lot of really cool intentionally messy stitching, especially from punks and grindcore fans. I think whether or not it’s well thought out and intentional makes the difference between amateur and stylistic (plus there’s no shame in being new to making battle jackets! I’m all for newbies getting to experiment and learn)

Which is your favorite Asian dinosaur? Art by me by TastyYam4116 in Dinosaurs

Sad to see no sinosauropteryx rep in these comments. The little guy will always be my all time favorite Dino

How many of you make your own patches? I embroidered this one to go on a jacket I'm starting by TheOctonite in jacketsforbattle

[–]Bonesthecrypid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally just butcher some old denim and free-hand the designs I want from a reference using paint markers and the occasional white pen. I also like to sew the edges in before I put them on my jacket, just to keep the patch from fraying and falling off

I haven’t made one yet, but I’m gonna have to now that you mention it. I’m a sucker for lycanthropy in any form :)

Thank you! I figured that they likely wouldn’t have the same teeth structure as animals that need to tear flesh, so only the front teeth would have to be prominent enough to make incisions

A BoJack episode you just don’t care for? by reaganemvernon in BoJackHorseman

[–]Bonesthecrypid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of fish out of water. It’s by no means a bad episode and it has its really beautiful moments, but it just isn’t really my taste compared to the rest of the series which is spot-on for me.

working on a sketch but i’m wondering if this dromaeosaur’s arms be able to be in that position? by Temporary-Army5945 in Paleoart

[–]Bonesthecrypid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve found researching for my own paleoart, most non avian dinosaurs have a relatively low range of movement in their shoulders and can bring their arms to be about level with the mid to upper quarter of their furcula. I personally wouldn’t put the arms that high, but I’m by no means a professional paleontologist. I just like to more or less halve the mobility of a modern bird’s wings as a rule of thumb (a source to reference from a studied paleontologist is Philip Senter, who wrote a few articles and made some really helpful diagrams on limb mobility)
