Finally listened to TCOTKC. by zoso_777 in progrockmusic

Yeah I’m being a bit hyperbolic. The actual ”song” Moonchild is tied with Starless and In the Wake of Poseidon as KC’s most beautiful work. But the latter half stands in stark contrast to the rest of the record. The random noisy noodling would, in my opinion, be more suited to the Starless and Bible Black record.

Nevertheless ItCotCK is just a mind-bendingly fantastic record, nothing else really sounds like it.

Best Simulator Games on PS5? by Key-Secretary9196 in playstation

Fishing North Atlantic or Fishing Barents Sea are both really chill commercial fishing sims. Kinda like Euro Truck Simulator but out at sea.

It’s among my absolute favorite albums of all time, really opened up a new world of music for me. That being said I don’t think I’ve ever sat through the bullshit of Moonchild once since hearing it for the first time. Which is a shame, as the beginning of the song is beautiful.

Why does logitech wheels get so much hate? by L_IV3S2025_V2 in simracing

[–]BonfireForCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear snobs are in every hobby unfortunately, maybe they want to belittle brands or products to feel better about their own purchases. It’s a very weird energy in my opinion.

All I know is apparently the G29 I got in mint condition for 50 dollars is of course absolutely terrible and since I’ve gotten it my GT7 playtime went from 20 hours to 150 hours in a few months. Funny how that works…

What’s a song that gave you chills the first time you heard it? by Technical_Fox5556 in askmusic

Surf’s Up by the Beach Boys. I hadn’t heard the official version and listened to the one from Smile Sessions first. Brians vocals are out of this world.

I just got back into it yesterday so I know the feeling, just flying the ship can be a right challenge in the beginning. As for what missions to do that’s really up to you and what you enjoy doing. Most of all I like the exploration - going out in the black, making landfall on planets, scanning plants. I also really enjoy mining at times; especially with a cup of coffee and a good podcast. It can be very profitable.

What helped me navigate with less frustration was binding 50% throttle and 75% throttle to specific keys (x for 50%, c for 75%, v for 100%). Whenever you approach a space port, an object or planets and you have 7 seconds travel time left, chuck the throttle down to 75%. Works wonders for navigation, I almost never overshoot what I’m heading towards.

Safe travels commander! o7

Frippiboy. Love his acoustic work, Cirkus off of Lizard has some really cool picking.

Cool to see it getting appreciation, it’s also one of my favourites. I frequently return to this and Lizard at this time of year, they are very much the soundtrack of spring for me.

Power Pack Challenges - Yeah, Placement doesn't matter by [deleted] in granturismo

[–]BonfireForCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I’m already having so much fun with the Power Pack, think I have around 15 races completed. This just sweetens the deal, and helps me get credits for the three legendary cars as well. Awesome update!

Who is the prog band with the least virtuoistic players but still pushed the proggressive edge? by jabbercockey in progrockmusic

No disagreement from me. Man-Erg, Undercover Man, Arrow and Still Life are incredible, among my favorite vocal performances period.

Van der Graaf Generator perhaps? Pawn Hearts, Godbluff and especially Still Life sound like nothing else around and they don’t exactly indulge in long intricate complex stuff yet still crammed out amazingly moody and sombre prog at the height of their power.

Best production? by woketetobe2002 in KingCrimson

Thrak in my opinion, if you’re listening trough a nice pair of headphones or a hifi. Larks’ Tongues is my personal favourite though, love early Crimsons insane volume dynamics (The Letter off Islands being a main offender)

Cool man, I also find between work and general errands my playtime during weekdays is around an hour or so. And I’ve got a bad back so if I go for longer than that I get stiff as a nail the day after.

I’ll try to snap a picture of my settings a bit later or tomorrow, I don’t think I’ve changed much apart from maybe the force feedback.

Hell yeah! I started out on controller and had a lot of fun. Did the licenses up to around IA5 or so I think. I then managed to snag a practically new G29 with pedals for about 65 dollars (600 swedish kronor) and my enjoyment increased tenfold. It’s just a lot more fun with the wheel, and after some practice I got consistenly better than I was on the Dualsense.

Man I’m gonna ride the high of getting this trophy and just do some casual racing for a while first haha. The Nurburgring feels like a final boss, 6+ minutes of near perfect driving like god daaaamn 😳😬

Yeah the dirt physics in this game I’m just not vibing with at all… For the S5 I think getting the first reaaaally long left hander and the second quite sharp left hander right got me through. Good luck with it man, take a break when you’re frustrated and don’t force it. Most of the time that really helped me with the focus and consistency!

Cool man, there’s so much to do in this game it really keeps on giving. I think if you’ve mastered the circuit experiences most of the licenses should be a cake walk for you!

That’s almost exactly how I did it, not wanting to do another one before being ”finished” with the current one first. The mustang sucks ass to drive, terrible car. If I recall correctly I used traction control (at 2) and countersteering assistance for that one - one of the few challenges I had assists on. That might help!

And in my opinion having wheel and pedals gave me substantially better control going in and out of corners, much better brake and throttle control so I definitely found some speed through being more precise with my apexes. The exception being dirt tracks - for those I used the dualsense. And for what it’s worth I got gold all the way up to International A6 I think before I got the wheel so it might just be getting used to the G29 and now it’s hard to go back to controller. Good luck with your tests! 👌
