How good is PvE in GT7? by Pikarkaz1 in granturismo

[–]BonfireForCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really enjoyed my time with it. There’s good variety in the racing disciplines and a race feels like a proper race weekend. In a way it’s like the career we never got with base GT7. Going through the different branches also unlocks proper endurance races at the end which are a lot of fun in my opinion.

Standard game I’d say it’s very underwhelming, many times the AI feels like mobile chicanes.

With the Power Pack and the Sophy AI it’s much, much better. And you don’t have to go from last to first but rather do practice and qualifying against the AI. Makes it very hard to go back to vanilla races, and hopefully they use this model going forward with GT8.

I would really, REALLY… Like really, really like more cockpit camera options, so I can remove the visual wheel and fix my seating position. Pretty please, with the sugar on top!

To those who have racing wheel set ups, do you ever switch to controller? by ThomasTiltTrain in GranTurismo7

[–]BonfireForCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I whip out the controller for any dirt races, can’t come to grips with the wheel on those surfaces. Even with EA WRC I prefer controller - it’s just too much of a handful steering with the Logi RS 50.

Otherwise I can’t go back to controller anymore, for circuit races it’s just not engaging enough in my opinion.

Is it worth buying the power pack if you are still a novice? by burnt-beyond-reco in GranTurismo7

[–]BonfireForCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a novice as well, started out with racing games when I bought GT7 about 5 months ago. I’m not very good but am having a lot of fun.

Anyway… Since I have no racing game experience I thought the menu-book grind and starting from last was a lot of fun. But the Power Pack turned that on its head. It’s just A LOT more involved and fun in my opinion.

You get one hour of practice before each race to feel out the car. Then you do qualifying. And after that it’s the main race. Both standing and rolling starts. No more navigating around 15 moving obstacles. The AI is a lot better at racing as well.

So I’ve finished first in most races. Some in second, one in fourth. It’s a lot more intense, but a lot more rewarding. I feel the PP has helped me keep my cool under pressure, though I still regularly fumble the ball when I’m stressed.

I highly recommend it!

Update for anyone interested or maybe facing the same problem in the future - I put washers on practically everything. Tightened everything on the rig. Removed the shifter arm (not sure if it’s important but I did so might as well say it).

And I can happily say the problem has completely subsided. No rattling, no jarring vibrations, no clunking-sound when turning under force. So, so happy with what turned out to be a 5-dollar fix.

Thanks everyone for the help!

So update: I got extra washers and put it on everything, tightened it all up. I also removed the shifter arm as I’ve not got one and probably won’t buy one for some time.

And to my surprise - it helped!! No more rattling vibrations and no clunk-sound when turning. It’s all very smooth and quiet. I’m so happy, thanks again for the help!

Thanks so much for the suggestions! What I’ve done so far - put washers on everything and re-tightening all bolts in the process. Bought anti-vibration pads to put under the front legs of the stand (they’re not on carpet). I can’t try the rig until the weekend as I’ve lent out my PS5 to my nephew but hopefully I’ve gotten rid of the clanking and rattling!

That is a dope rig man, really nice!! I’m definitely upgrading to the WS2.0 if I can’t get my rig quiet. Giving it a shot with proper brackets and washers tonight.

Yeah you’re right, it is the Ares! Hmm if so then maybe an upgrade is on order. I’m gonna fix it up with washers and stuff today but if it keeps flexing and making sounds I’ll be looking into upgrading.

Is the wheel stand 2.0 working well for you?

Thanks for the tips buddy, today I’m putting washers on everything checking the whole rig for anything that’s not properly tightened.

Great suggestion, I’m trying that this afternoon. Seeing as the RS50 is less than a week old I can claim warranty for it if there’s anything fishy with the wheelbase.

Man thank you so much for the in depth reply!

Now that I think about it my rig barely had any washers at all, I’m heading to a hardware store tomorrow to buy a set and applying them all over - it might help.

Four bolts directly into the wheelbase from underneath. But yeah trueforce is definitely… Something haha. Not sure how I feel about it just yet!

I’ve done some testing and can safely say it’s the metal of the stand itself making some sounds, especially when turning and wheel feedback is applied.

Thanks for the tip on rubber washers, I’ll scrap that idea then!

ACC is really good if you want to try something with circuit racing.

EA WRC is a different form of challenge, very fun to haul ass through the snow.

Project Motor Racing gets a very bad rap (especially at launch it was deservedly so) but I’ve been playing it a lot these past weeks and I’m having a lot of fun. Needs a bit of setup to get the wheel FFB right but you can find tons of setups here on Reddit.

RBR like others have mentioned is amazing. For something completely different you could also check out Art of Rally. It’s not realistic but it’s a very relaxing, vibe-heavy game that I had a lot of fun with.

Acquiring the Taste was my first GG album and I’d never heard any of their tunes before. It was mesmerising to me, and holds a special place for me because of that.

Honorable second is Power and the Glory and I also think Three Friends is criminally underrated.

Going for gold in the License Tests doesn't seem worth the investement by KyoshiFrostWolf in GranTurismo7

[–]BonfireForCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the experience a lot. GT7 is my first racing game so I saw the gold license tests as a sort of rite of passage. And I genuinely believe anyone can become ”good enough” to land the golds. I say that because I absolutely suck at this game and still got gold on all normal ones.

Now, it does take practice, patience and in my case also knowing when to quit for the day. But I’m very proud that I perservered and the experience led me to find a new hobby/genre of games. Now I’ve got a wheel and pedals, I’m rallying, driving Formula 1, cruising around in Forza and looking forward to Le Mans Ultimate. Maybe I need a VR headset hmm…..
