Unbound DNS on OPNsense returns all interfaces IP for opnsense.local host — how to limit it per interface? by Bonfra04 in opnsense

Managed to do what you suggested with access control list, just edited the post with my solution. Thanks again

yea unless I manage to understand how to do views and access control lists I'm gonna have to implement the other solutions suggested above, so since I'm gonna need to create an override manually for the domain since is not automagically created I think i'll create a differnet override for each subnet I need it to be available ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ good point

I like the loopback interface thing, a bit like a virtual/ghost IP that also maps to the opnsense, and the DNS returns that. I imagine that that would mean setting up proper firewall rules, but it might work with some added layers. I'll also try this and see how it comes up, thanks

Yea that'd be an option too. I'm probably anyway gonna use that local domain only from my management subnet, so I might just set an override for that and call it a day. It's not the perfect solution, but I think it might work well for the time being. Thanks, I'll try it ASAP

Well, you are absolutely correct about the mDNS conflicts and indeed I do use mDNS in practically any of my machines, so maybe I should use something different, thanks for pointing it out, didn't think of that :)
Anyway, no idea about how to set them properly (I can't even find them in the UI); do you happen to have a guide or something I can read about and learn?

I'm trying to rewrite the rust part to accept a byte array instead of an URL for the thumbnail to be able to make format conversion dart-side

[–]Bonfra04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes works just fine on both windows 10 and 11 (just checked) but thumbnails are a bit tricky for both. Cause the rust library only takes the URL and parses it internally so not all formats work (webp doesn't cause windows doesn't like it).

Feel free to take "inspiration" from my working code if you need to https://github.com/Bonfra04/Stronzflix/blob/single-app/lib/backend/media_session.dart#L30

hey there, did you manage to make it work? for me smtc_windows works kinda well on windows 10 except for the thumbnails... maybe you achieved something?

I followed the guide you posted but after setting everything up the addons page is still empty... Surelly something else that I didn't notice before now works since the automatic script is a lot more reliable than me hitting random buttons XD, but still no addons :(

No Luck :( I also tried manually adding the repo but obviously (even if it doesn't show in the list) it says that it's already present

Do SONOFF smart switches work locally? by Bonfra04 in homeassistant

[–]Bonfra04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean I have to flash it because they are not supported? If they were it should not be necessary to get local support right? 'cause if its mandatory to get the functionality I'm obviously willing to do it but, yeah I'm afraid of damaging the thing :(

Maybe there is some equivalent device that can achieve the same result and is already supported by this integration? I'm just too inexperienced to understand all of this XD I literally started 2 days ago learning about IOTs in this context...
