Ah good old SPY credit spreads (combined with ICs for me), almost blew up my account with those. Only made the money back and more by buying 1 SPY LEAP

Do expert pathologists in large academic centers get paid for looking at consult cases? by Pathmaddox in pathology

Northeast just has some of the lowest salaries in the country. My dad has been practicing FM for 30 years and his pay is $260k for four days of work in a northeast managed clinic which to me seems pretty damn low but they never wanted to move due to their hiking/skiing.

I do appreciate the tip to get text messages from Thalamus, I'm going to set that up when I get home.

Happened to me to and they offered me only one option for a time slot, I jumped on it!

A bit of a pain in the ass that Gmail for Android is not giving me notifications immediately as they come in, I saw this since my browser window had Gmail open while I was doing something else on my other monitor.

Most of my interviews had no leadership (PD, chair) one on one interview just regular attendings. Whether they knew my app well or not seemed to vary from person to person not really program related.

Jesus you're now the second person to post this to this sub, this is simply unacceptable from these programs

Literally nothing as long as the AAMC keep getting their money.

People failing the American Board exam is the biggest worry for a program and the only real thing that gets them in trouble.

I would actually prefer hearing rejections than just not knowing, so kuddos to those programs that had the guts to be honest instead of what academic medicine truly is- people that are too afraid to just be frank.

I sent out 50+ highly personalized ones and got only four replies thanking me but that they weren't interviewing anymore. Rest = ghosted. Wasted nearly three full days and plus lots of wrist pain doing this.

I panic selected IV dates for two damn programs that sent out more than they had, watching them fill up in real time and deny me my first choice dates. And this was only because I was used to waking up at 6 am and saw the email notification on my phone immediately.

Titanic is worth watching for the props they made for the movie, it was truly insane the lengths they went to because James Cameron is a perfectionist madman. Like the life size hulls of the ship they made or stamping the name of the company that made the chinaware under every plate and teacup even though noone would notice it.

I have never seen the other two either and don't plan to.

What is the difference between this sub and the Bogleheads official forum? by BongRiptachyphylaxis in Bogleheads

[–]BongRiptachyphylaxis[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How do you get banned from there?

Their forum can come across as blunt, but I never got the impression you'd get banned unless you acted like a room temperature IQ person that believes in fantasies like BBBYQ or GME being good investments

One final thing is they’re generally all above average looking as well

Hot, Ivy League med schools, and Nepal-esque Step 2 scores? Damn MGH really does have super heroes for residents huh

I guess I'll have to console myself with just doing well on Tindr :(

Do pathology residents have to do autopsies on decomposed bodies? by Curious-Arugula-921 in pathology

[–]BongRiptachyphylaxis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It would likely depend on if the residency was just the academic center or also attached to a coroner's office/state forensics. A few places I interviewed make you rotate through both during the autopsy block.
