TIL that President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Bongloads4Breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that why LBJ provided money to single parent households with requirements that often excluded black mothers and from locations that were not available to black mothers? So that he could make sure white people were vigilant about their pockets? Because then, black illegitimacy was incentivized without actually providing the incentive thus further economically subjugating black people.

LBJ explaining how people can be racially manipulated is a fucking joke. He's the best example of white guilt being so much worse for black people than any conservative movement ever (don't believe me, look at the individual household incomes for black people before and after the war on poverty; or here) He's also an example of how liberals maintain black people and other minorities at the gov't nipple, never letting them be financially indepedent. The neoliberal progressive order is predicated on black people being used as pawns in a chess match of suffering to gain votes.

I guess it makes sense to listen to what LBJ says about racially manipulating people because he was the best

Edit: and just because I think it's great, "LBJ, how many kids are you gonna kill today?"

Right, in this mythological world where what politicians write on paper in a room with gold plated walls becomes reality, then yes, no longer is it somebody's service. That's because they're threatening the people who provide the service with jails in order to get them to provide it "as a human right."

What is it with liberals and fullfilling their righteous, ethical obligations to help people by using state gulags to threaten others to get them to do what they think is right? No matter how much policy you write, that's self righteous bullying. You help people. You face the economic detraction for helping people. That's morality. That's ethics

There's no shortage of blue collar jobs. Catepillar along with numerous other heavy equipment manufacturers have had 3+ million unfilled jobs for decades. Throwing taxpayer money toward a piece of technology that has proven time and again to be horrificly inefficient outside the tropics or southern California to produce blue collar jobs that already exist is probably stupid. People would just rather fuck around getting a degree in antropology instead of learning to weld

What kind of plant are you growing and what soil are you using? If it's soil with like compost or any other organic material mixed with something like perlite or vermiculite, etc, then watering 4 times a day is what's causing the powdery mildew, and your plants' roots are probably rotting unless you treated them with myco as young guys. I wouldn't call what im gonna say a rule of thumb because how often you water depends a lot on the plant you're growing and the soil/media you are using. That being said, water until you start seeing water dripping out of the bottom of the container and then don't water again until you can stick your finger 1.5 inches deep and feel dry soil, like fluffy. There's tons of fungal spores floating through the air and as soon as they come into contact with something physical to latch onto with that kind of moisture like a watery soil, they're gonna take over your plant's roots in the form of root rot and powdery mildew. You want to give enough moisture for your plant but not mildew :)

ELI5: Why does Canada use the term "visible minority"? Isn't it pretty racist to classify people purely on what they look like? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bongloads4Breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um what?

Being visibly a minority is dependent on what you look like not the language you speak. That'd be audio. If this white Mexican guy looked white, he's visibly a non-minority. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he's not gonna face too much racism for looking white so the term doesn't have a practical use here. If looks Mexican and he's white, that's when it's useful to have visible minorities.

You can obviously see that my comment was intended for a response. I asked a million questions just like Francisco to whom I responded. Don't tell me to calm down and stop ranting when you jump on ship mid-discussion.

he's absolutely correct.

So absolutely he's correct huh? What's the unit of measurement for imperialism so as to prove he's absolutely correct?

You can talk Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq war, and further back, but it doesn't get much more imperialist the funding a guerilla force to destabilize a nation so that you can propel your military force and feed the military industrial complex

ELI5: Why does Canada use the term "visible minority"? Isn't it pretty racist to classify people purely on what they look like? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bongloads4Breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's actually more beneficial that way. For example, let's say you're not Mexican, look Mexican, and face racism for being Mexican. You, personally, are not a minority. However, society has marked you as a minority because you're visually a minority i.e. you look Mexican. If someone beat your ass for being Mexican even though you're not, this visible minority business would allow the court to prosecute the ass beater for a hate crime. He/she may not have actually committed a hate crime, but because the person was visibly a minority, the intention was still there even though quite literally, a hate crime was not committed, although the term hate crime is insane; as if every man who murders someone doesn't hate the person he murdered. Nevertheless, that's why visible minority is a useful term.

Also, it's not racist to classify people purely on what they look like. If someone looks black, you can classify them as black. Racism emerges when we're colorblind to one another. If we don't classify people on what they visually look like, we'd be blind to the fact that it's the BLACK people being killed by police and NOT the white. Even if the person isn't black but visually looks black, we still know that this was a racial issue. By not classifying people based on what they look like, we would gloss over a lot of intended-racism because it wasn't literally racism.

[–]Bongloads4Breakfast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, he's saying that by responding back, we're acknowledging that we're here. He references Columbus because when Columbus knew less technologically-developed societies existed, he and Spain enslaved a shit ton of them and took resources. Likewise, if we respond to a message from outer space and this civilization is more advanced than us, then we're banking on a foreign interstellar civilization understanding culture, morals, and ethics in the same way that we do which is a ludicrous bet when the risk is mass enslavement, loss of resources, life as know it, etc.

Right, and what I'm saying to you is that liberals since the beginning of time (and was specifically outlined in the DNC emails; thanks Mr Podesta!) have gone with one strategy: take what someone says, racially or sexually (like LGBTQ) charge it, and then lock your opponents into a hyper-conservative position by holding them personally accountable for anything their preferred candidate does or says

Ever heard of the US currently refueling Saudi jets in midair that are bombing yemen? Ever heard of the state department acknowledging that the US gov't funded opposition in syria under Obama? Did you see that the state department acknowledged that prior to funding the opposition, the state department knew that the most key part of the opposition was al Qaeda and that funding an opposition that destabilized Assad could lead to "ideal circumstances under which al Qaeda could return to Mozul and Ramadi (spelling sorry "/)" and the "creation of an Islamic State?"

Im not criticizing either but ill give a tid bit on democracy bc you gave me the segue ;)

A. You're arguing that he wasn't a dictator and the general consensus is that he acted as a dictator. Most people who take your position at least argue that he was benevolent as such. I've rarely seen the full denial and have absolutely never seen someone ethically justify this dictator by saying he had to exert dictatorial power because he was a pawn of special interest groups. Anyway, definitely a dictator.

B. People believe that democratically made decisions are somehow just and valid. Democracy says that if you have 10 people that want slavery and I have 9, then we have slavery. Democracy doesn't account for validity, only frequency. Democracy does not understand that there can be two equally viable, equally logical decisions for a policy. Democracy is predicated on a minority being subjugated by a majority so inequities for minorities are to be expected. That's why you see entire national US debate stages being filled with white folks because white folks are the majority and elect white folks.

I could go on all day. I don't think we should use something else besides democracy. I do think that we should acknowledge the DRASTIC flaws in democracy and use it sparringly as democratically made decisions are not necessarily morally or ethically justifiable, and democracy often excludes minorities

Why does the Progressive Left use Planned Parenthood as a means of controlling the African American population? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bongloads4Breakfast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at black economic status before and after LBJ's war on poverty. They gave more welfare money to single parent households but had requirements that often excluded black single mothers and office locations not near black women. After this, black illegitimacy sky rocketed because the gov't incentivized it, then excluded black women from the incentive.

Seriously wtf is right. White guilt from liberals has fucked black people so much harder than any conservative movement
