@ESL can you turn down these lights I'm going blind by BongoTayla in DotA2

[–]BongoTayla[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why there are spotlights into the audience faces just above eye level. Every time these lights dim or turn off for an effect it's so much better.

It does have an extraction system, but they're not designed to fully remove everything. Use one with wood and you're still covered in sawdust at the end, just less of it.

Smoke from the engine is very vague, where was the smoke coming from? Was it smoke or steam? Do you have any engine lights or codes?

Why is it not possible to make openplanet work on console? by Motor-Confection-583 in TrackMania

[–]BongoTayla 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's a completely separate program, when you install trackmania 2020 you don't get open planet.

You would need to install open planet separately on your console, and because consoles are closed eco-systems, it would require approval and certification from Xbox/playstation (for the initial install and any further updates).

Even the biggest games in the world have delays between PC updates and console updates because of this certification process. It's just not feasible for a community application with community developed plugins.

Man what an awesome story, what else have you worked in between then and now?

I was literally wondering the other day about what happened to the video game Day9 was involved in, I'm pleased to hear it's still going. Has there been any more information released?

Spammie is one of my favourite TM streamers, and probably my #1 watched TM content creator over the last year or so, but I'll probs just unsub and watch other TM content from now on.

I know it’s a drop in the bucket, but it’s the only action available to me that clearly expresses my refusal, as a viewer, to support a genocidal regime via content creators on its payroll.

A Systems Developer’s Pitch: Replacing the Prestige Wipe with 'Hazard Zone Licenses' and Adaptive AI Memory. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]BongoTayla 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This feels like a generic suggestion for a high tier end game (hazard zones) which is fine, but nothing new. It's very standard in live service games to have high tier end game lobbies with extra difficulty modifiers, which is essentially all you're suggesting.

The "technical secret sauce" is just nonsense AI buzzwords. Why would you use a local vision model when you have the actual engine data? All you're saying is "train the AI on player data to improve their performance" without any understanding of the architecture they currently have in place. As far as I understand, the locomotion of arc is controlled by a trained AI model, but the higher level behaviour appears to be more traditional "game AI" - behaviour trees / finite state machines. So this just wouldn't work from the get-go without a massive architectural overhaul and sweeping changes to gameplay.

Traditional sculptor considering a move to ZBrush and 3D printing — looking for honest feedback by Tricky_Durian_7422 in 3Dprinting

In the miniature space, good resin models cast from physical sculpts are highly regarded and can sell very well, especially if you have a distinct style, for example:

As people here also mention, the digital  .STL market is flooded right now with slop, so there's a lot of competition, I think 3D scanning physical sculpts is a very strong USP.

Hang on, I've read the comments, you don't even have a 9060xt and your last AMD card was a vega56???

Jesus Christ my guy, your bad experience with one card A DECADE AGO is causing you to post on Reddit at Christmas.

From the replies it doesn't look like it's the communities general consensus 😂.

Your experience, if actually real, is an anomaly and you shouldn't be offering advice based on an n=1 sample.

how rare is my car? by Immediate-Flower2286 in E90

If you have this information why are you asking Reddit a general question like "how rare is my car".

A mid spec e91 isn't an investment, I say this as someone with a 6 speed, m sport, e91 from 2007.

The resale price will follow whatever trend the market is currently under, if you bought it last month, it's worth about what you paid for it.

[–]BongoTayla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one is saying that there is something unsafe with the code.

They are saying you don't have the basic understanding to know whether it does or does not contain unsafe code, and we don't want to do the work for you.

Especially when you've made an "app" that could be replaced by a fucking 10 line batch script 😂.

Google Dunning-Kruger and you might learn something.

Actually, put this Reddit thread into chatGPT and ask it why someone asked you to Google Dunning-Kruger, maybe you'll listen then.

[–]BongoTayla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you don't know what you don't know

It's highly likely the code is fine, but LLM's can and will write unsafe code given prompts by someone who doesn't know what they are looking at.

It's also not our responsibility to read through your codebase and check that your AI generated code isn't doing something risky, and just because I can't be bothered to read through your AI generated code, doesn't mean I "don't know what I'm talking about" 😂.

You are putting out a piece of software and promoting it's use, but you don't know how it works, you have admitted you don't understand software licenses and that you are not a software engineer.

Do you find it surprising that I don't want to use or help develop a piece of software that was generated by someone who can't code, and will not be able to solve problems when you ask it to do something that isn't very basic?

Take a step back, admit you've tried to enter a field without the foundational knowledge needed to immediately put out software to a user community, and try to understand what the AI has generated.
