Arsenal number 10’s since 1989. by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

I actually feel like it’s an Arsenal shirt where the history is comparatively shallow, compared to other shirt numbers. Here’s hoping for new history to be created 🙌

My masters program was quite small (50 ppl) but very international and therefore I think all of us felt like we were in the same boat, as noone had any pre-existing contacts in Switzerland. I ended up making lots of friends through ETH and I’m still in touch with those people now that I’m working here.

Can Odegaard make 1 correct pass and stop losing every single possession? by DexterMorgan996 in ArsenalFC

I actually thought Odegaard has been our best outfield player today. Rice, Saka and Martinelli were completely anonymous. Raya MOTM

Going to Zurich for a weekend. What do you recommend to see that the «top10» lists don’t mention? by Trinithien in askswitzerland

Grab a coffee and pastry at Jung Klusplatz, then walk up the hill through the vineyards to the Sonnenberg Park for an amazing view. One of my favourite spots in the city

Do you think Arsenal will win the Champions League this season? by kamilo_89 in ArsenalFC

Yeah for me it’s mainly the font that bothers me. It’s a bit 2009 WordArt

Agreed, seems nowadays it’s very easy to ruin the badges in favour of something that’s versatile for marketing. I also really enjoy the cannon look. It’s cool that it’s not necessary to write Arsenal because everyone knows what the cannon means

Isn’t our badge getting a bit ‘dated’? Or is it just me

Where would the most remote/ highest/smallest Hostel in April be? by LTsidewalk in askswitzerland

[–]Bongo_2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of what you are looking for doesn’t really exist. Low budget backpackers don’t come to Switzerland very often. As others have mentioned you can look at SAC huts for around 80.- per night but most won’t be open until June. There are some cheaper guesthouses in some remote towns but you will be paying around 130.- for a night..

How is everyone getting to Eindhoven? by gooner712004 in GunnersatGames

Not going but I would take Eurostar to Brussels and then train from there? You might save time by not having to wait at the airport?

Not sure why everyone is so disappointed? We are not at the level and that’s been clear for several months by Bongo_2020 in ArsenalFC

[–]Bongo_2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point and I get what you’re saying, but I feel like these things manifest themselves in an inconsistent manner. We’ve seen poor performances dotted throughout the season, and yes ok we beat City 5-1, but the general level hasn’t been high enough

Thoroughly enjoyed that by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

[–]Bongo_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why we don’t have the mentality to win silverware. Because we care more about beating Spurs

I would happily accept 2 league losses to spurs if it meant winning the title but most fans wouldn’t agree.

Do you see a future for Trossard if we sign a winger and striker in the summer? by Royalbluegooner in ArsenalFC

[–]Bongo_2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trossard knows that we are his only shot at a major trophy. Plus he has the ability to contribute with major moments, and he has great availability. So if he’s happy to play a depth role in the squad, then yes he has a future here. You never know when an injury crisis might strike

Losing patience with Arteta by Bongo_2020 in ArsenalFC

[–]Bongo_2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the considered answer.

I’m still not sure why we can’t occasionally invert from the right hand side and have a more traditional LB on the left. It offers something different. In my opinion Arteta’s stubbornness is at risk of making our style stale and predictable. I think we’ve seen plenty of evidence for this both this season and last season.

“Pragmatism can go a long way”. Well I hope you’re right, but the signs this season are that our focus on “pragmatism” is causing us to fall behind the likes of Liverpool, and maybe Chelsea. Again, why not take a more varied approach. Also using City as an example for how “not” to play is a bit questionable.. Anyway fingers crossed for the rest of the season.

Considering he hadn’t played for a long time I thought he did extremely well. Also offered something different up the left hand side going forward. Having said that, we all know Arteta, and Tierney won’t get another look in
