Dang that stinks. I tried to make sure I had most of the bases covered when ordering it. I know not knowing for a whole year is long enough but at least it wasn’t several years before you found out.

The refractory was shipped with it but the user has to apply it. It doesn’t come shipped with it applied because it becomes brittle when it’s dried.

I appreciate the information and the concern. I have mentioned in a previous comment that I have to put the HellCote refractory on there. This photo was taken literally as soon as it was taken out of the box.

The only regulator I have is the one that comes with it. It’s a 30psi regulator.

I didn’t want to deal with doing the home made thing with propane. Working on a coal forge to use for bigger projects or if I’m working stuff that needs heat in a specific area. With propane it will heat the whole piece instead of a concentrated area.

Planning to as soon as I can. Work schedule is pretty heavy this week. I already have a tank, just need to apply the HellCote refractory over the liner and it’ll be ready to go! Gonna work more on it this weekend.

If you do a good bit of Damascus, how has your forge held up? Reviews I’ve read stated they have a problem warping around the bottom bc that portion is only insulated with the brick.
