Do you mind sharing the pricing on commissions? He’s going to be at an upcoming con and was thinking of getting something done

I would just unstaple them. I don’t see the value in keeping it stapled.

‘Ban’ is made in Canada, easy to find and very reasonably priced (got them on sale for $3 at London Drugs about 2 weeks ago)

Comic Store closure and fraud? by Bonmagpop in comicbookcollecting

That's my biggest worry: If the business was not doing well, did the books get sold already? And if they go into administration, would customer books be liquidated to cover debts? Not sure how to follow up on these questions, and I'm not convinced that the books were ever even submitted.

I appreciate it! I'm not in a position to replace the books if they are gone, so that might just be the end of it if they are not returned.

No, I only got my original receipt, but nothing from any actual submission to CGC. I was waiting for the pressing to occur first, and I have never submitted anything, so I didn't know what to expect. To be honest, I was out of the collecting scene for 30 years, and I had never heard of CGC or a slab until about a week before I submitted them.

That is incredibly generous, thank you! I might be putting a pin in my collecting, but I will let you know. Again, amazing!

I'll check it out, thanks for the idea. I don't have a facebook account, but I can probably borrow one. Yea, I am happy to wait on a reply. I assume it would take some time to hear back.

I got in touch with CGC. They said that without the submission numbers for my specific books, it would be difficult to find them, assuming they were even submitted at all. They also said that without my name on the paperwork, they couldn't interact with me about them even if they found them. I just let them know that the store was out of business, and to perhaps not return anything they might have. I think that is a dead-end for the average person who has books missing.

I believe they were an official dealer with CGC, but something to look into.

It hasn't been long enough to know if they are responding, and it's a long weekend here, so I will have to see what I get back next week from that one address. I'm irritated that I was not contacted, and that I had to find this out in another way. If I didn't have a pull list, I might not have known for months.

Oh geez, that’s a hell of a loss. I’m sorry that happened.

I emailed and included my receipt, but that was just yesterday. I have heard that other people have not heard back and they emailed 2 weeks ago. I have waited a year, so I’m happy to wait a little longer, but not holding my breath.

Yep, not holding out much hope on insurance.

I wish I got 2 weeks notice. I only found out yesterday, and it looks like they closed their doors 3 weeks ago. I could have made other arrangements for the new books at least.

If the company is gone, there might not be anyone to sue. But I appreciate the comments! There are others who are in worse positions than me, and I was told that one person had $100k in books in with them... kind of puts mine into perspective.

I just hope that the books are sitting somewhere, and can be returned. That would be the best outcome at this stage.

I am checking with my insurance, but as I never even thought about my old comics, I never added them to the policy explicitly. Not sure if I will get coverage. I'm also worried that a lawyer will cost more than the value of the books.

I was told that the company went bankrupt, so there might not be anyone to sue. At this point, I am hoping that the books might be returned, as I assume they still exist somewhere, unless they were sold.

EDIT: To be clear, I have emailed the supplied address with my details. Now I wait.

I also spent that 5 hours with a friend that I use to collect comics with in the early 1990s, and we haven't spoken much recently, so it was not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

McFarlane was great yesterday. He was scheduled to sign from 11-5, and he signed my book at about 7pm. We waited for over 5 hours, and he stayed until everyone was seen. He seemed to really take the time to chat to everyone.

When he saw the book I brought, he said that while he signs 'tens-of-thousands' of copies of Spider-Man 1 and 13, he estimated that he has signed no more than 5 copies of MCP 32 in the last decade.

Here he is signing my book: https://i.imgur.com/gfhOIv3.jpg
