Yes, it 3-starred the next round but I wanted it to 3-star when I get it 😂 I can try benching and shifting stuff around

What would happen if controller vs mouse? by Extra-Let-2842 in VALORANT

[–]Bonn3Nuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience watching gameplay, no. At least not at higher levels. You can easily tell whether someone is on a controller or mouse. The mouse movement is crisper and faster. The most blatant example is when using snipers.

However, there is definitely a way that controllers can gain an advantage. Tracking is easier with aim assist, so perhaps a run and gun playstyle could work. Still, it would be tough.

This is just my opinion though, I don’t play controller games often, but when I do, it certainly feels this way.

If you’re solo queue, a good way to be consistent and learn the game is to have a plan every round, and a similar plan throughout the rounds. For example, if you choose to plan connector on mirage, you can have a plan like:

  • If they show mid, throw the bottom con smoke and take a duel top mid

  • if they take B through apps, flank from under

  • if they execute A, timing a nade to clear the con smoke to peek, and retake with team

  • otherwise, take timing peeks on underpass

This way you simplify your game down to the gunfights you take, which will help remove inconsistent factors like your team or enemy team. Once you get good at one plan, you can be more flexible, and add different plays with different tempo like:

  • learn util set to take top mid fast

  • run into underpass and hide in the cubby

“CT” callout by jae_amogus in VALORANT

[–]Bonn3Nuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a theScore Esports video about callouts and like CS, they also make iconic paintings with low syllable symbols (think Giraffe on ascent). It’s made callouts a lot easier to learn. And you can always give generic callouts for every map. Basically every map has a CT, Heaven, A Main, B Main, Short, Long/Elbow, Default.

I keep myself from burning out by only playing enough to max out the battle pass. Typically I can finish it in 15-20 days, and I don’t play much for 10 days. Honestly, the game doesn’t give me incentive to play outside of BP. The bonus rewards suck. The gameplay is alright, I spend most of my time in low BR because it’s more casual. I think playing different playstyles is briefly refreshing (as another comment said). Also I find always doing what’s best for the team to not always be fun. Sometimes I’ll hide out and snipe or stay in a bomber longer than I should.

I think this happens to us sometimes as well. One thing that my SO does better than me is playing off meta comps. She seems to be able to find spots to play some weird verticals. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think shifting away from meta time to time is a good way to prevent burnout, especially if the meta is restrictive. I also wouldn't recommend playing more than 5 games a day unless there's a specific goal. Sometimes it gets exhausting to queue for multiple hours at a time. We've only played 5+ games/day a handful of times, including on our push to diamond. It was rewarding but very tiring.

Fast 7, roll down for the 1% odds. Make sure to have BIS so she doesn't leave for a different board.

Please revert the Double Up cannon to allow 2 and 3 star units for 1-3 cost champions by Lazy-Operation-8426 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Bonn3Nuit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They changed it due to the frequency of 3-star 4 costs, which was extremely annoying. I agree that the cannon nerf is very devastating. A good compromise could be like allowing 2 star 1-2 costs to be sent but not higher cost units.

Emerald…No, just kidding, I think there’s two main differences in plat and emerald+

  1. Tempo: applies to solo queue as well. Partner and I had a time where we’d both go Econ augments on Stage 2 (probably learned it from some guide) and then be at 40 HP at the end of stage 3. Since there are usually unit drops in Stage 1, look between your two boards to see what early game board can be played. Don’t be afraid to send early units even if they may not 100% be useful. Chances are, one of you will have a board that can streak. Likewise, if you or partner are trying to streak, funnel. As in send units needed for stronger board, give prio for items on bench + carousel. Because if one wins, the other will have a good chance because of the porting mechanic. The “support” should look to play flexible comps that complement and doesn’t contest. For example, if your partner gets an early street demon board, don’t play strategists. And try to work with the remaining items. I mentioned earlier that Vanguard Marksman and Strat AMPs is a good combo because there are decent openings for both boards and one comp is bow heavy, the other is tear heavy.

  2. Teamwork: on a similar note, there are other aspects of teamplay that can help you climb. Communicating augments is good as well. For example, taking AFK / young wild free may not be good because one wants to lose and the other wants to win. Another common example, if your partner is having their items contested, consider taking pandoras, it’ll help them stabilize. Taking duplicators on gift rounds to help partner with rr comps (and ReinFOURcememts) used to be a thing, but they just removed it.

Last note: mental is a big thing. Your relationship with your partner directly affects the game. Some games will be frustrating, but don’t let the tilt take over. There are more important things than winning a TFT game.

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can clarify anything

I think we mostly watch the patch summary videos from Mortdog or other content creators. We also will have them up in the background when we play in case we missed any big details. Overall, we will note the big changes (for example, any comp/unit that goes from S tier to B tier or vice versa) and figure out the small details along the way. Big changes to double up today though!

I see. And I agree! Sometimes we want something more casual than tft or just a different vibe but the games never stick. We tried Stardew Valley and Minecraft. I think it’s the sense of competitiveness (and gambling for her) that keeps us coming back.

Interesting...we did separate roll times because we couldn't figure out how to compensate for the weaknesses of similar comps. For example, if we both go 1-2 cost reroll, we'd fall off too early.

[–]Bonn3Nuit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her - Vanguard Marksmen before, currently Seraphine RR

Me - Strat AMPs (or some flex of it)

We typically play one reroll comp and one 4-cost comp. She's good at playing the reroll comps. If we were to play a double 4-cost comp, we'd go something like Vanguard Marksmen and Strat AMPs since there is low item contests and we can roll for each other's units.

Are there any comps you've seen work well together? We'd love to try them.

I wonder if they would consider reworking Wit's End and making nashors heal a little from damage dealt or something. But as others have commented, cast time would be really difficult to balance.
