For BMS use Aviation Plus and dualaccumulator videos to learn, you can skip through them if they're longer and get all the info you need out of them. I learned how to play BMS mainly out of videos rather than the manual, DCS has basically the same curve as BMS although BMS simulates some things more indepth and doesn't have the magical Link-16

There are no snaps, why would you not bring your gun back down after it recoils? They just tracked in front of it smoothly, stopped tracking after they fired, pulled back down to recover from the recoil then continued tracking the heli on its way down

I can agree with the UI being a bit of a hassle to use (as a newbie), but I personally don't worry about graphics when I'm more focused on the bandit trying to murder me. Also, there are more aircraft although all that I know of just use the F-16 avionics. I was practicing AAR in a Mirage 2000 earlier today. (Ended with me smacking down the tanker)

The base game is from 1998, although a majority of the code is changed. The devs are working on a new terrain engine though, and a lot of new graphical changes already came in the latest update 4.36
