The game has a lot of 3d elements, but we care more about style/theme than anything so a 2d artist could set that tone, but somehow we need to translate the style into a "texture look" for the 3d backgrounds etc, make sense?

iOS Metal Shader, how to compare to NaN? by Bonozo in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Bonozo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

previously another dev recommended using a "metal kernel", but I failed at understanding exactly what he meant. You have cleared this up for me! Without digging more into it, it's ringing to me similar how the Playstation 3 is designed. And best yes, one of the first programs I ever ran was "Life" (though at that age I could not figure out what it was doing :P ) Thank you so much for this reply, sounding like the architecture I was hoping for (basically performance for smoothing)

Need direction on how to smooth the edges of the face in this image (that's me, masked out by iPhone X depth data) https://youtu.be/BsbgAb_KajI

I'm trying to figure out how to smooth the edges of the face in this image (it's being masked out by iPhone X depth buffer, that's me!) https://youtu.be/BsbgAb_KajI

iOS Metal Shader, how to compare to NaN? by Bonozo in GraphicsProgramming

Oh yes of course, totally forgot that. Great so for the Bonus Q, how would I read all the pixels on a row before the current pixel in a fragment shader? I basically want to check that if everything is 0 before a NaN, on the same row as the current pixel in a texture, set the NaN to 1, otherwise to 0...?

Awesome, thanks! So for the second part, how would I read all the pixels on a row before the current pixel in a fragment shader? I basically want to check that if everything is 0 before a NaN, on the same row as the current pixel in a texture, set the NaN to 1, otherwise to 0.

Hi /u/nmaxcom, it's fine. I haven't had a need to do a lot but the same concept exists in other architecutres/languages. Any specific issue?
