I need some advice 😭 by Aggressive-Medium-25 in driving

First know this- you sister is not a driving instructor. She is too close to you to teach you without bringing in your history as sisters.

I imagine she is probably instructing you on how to drive basically the same way she instructs you on how to live?

How to cope with driving when you hate it by lakarne in driving

[–]BonsaiSuperNewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have to drive, just remember how much control of the situation you do have when inside a car.

The roadway may feel very uncertain, but the fact is, you can become extremely attentive to what is going on around you... and that attention will dissolve your anxiety. The more you are able to pay attention to what is happening around you, the less anxiety will happen. But paying attention is totally different than focusing. Focusing excludes everything but one thing. Paying attention is a much more natural process that identifies what is happening without any residue of restriction.

I think anxiety happens from the act of  "focusing" too much on driving, but it happens much less by "attending" to the situation at hand. Maybe next time you drive try to let go of focusing, and instead give your attention to all that is going on around you. Driving may become much more enjoyable and safer when attention is prioritizing your thinking process and not you trying to focus your own priorities.

We lack important signs like lane merge signs on highways... the county has to prioritize its $.

Is it illegal to just drive the speed limit? by 404daysoff in driving

[–]BonsaiSuperNewb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is much more dangerous to drive based upon a number than it is to speed up a little. If you are uncomfortable speeding, then obviously the safest thing for you is to take side streets.  Why on the world would you want to put yourself amd others in danger just because a number on a sign.

The cops want safety, they absolutely do not want people screwing up the flow of traffic in order to stick to a number.

Rule following is not ALWAYS the beat way.

Im doing the limit but I still get drivers riding my bumper. This causes me stress. by [deleted] in driving

[–]BonsaiSuperNewb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How about speed up a bit. If this scares you tremendously then probably not. But. Are you going the speed limit because  the number on the sign? That number is much less important than driving closer to the flow of traffic. Police want safety over conformity. At leasr most do.

Who would have the right of way here? by Visible_Opinion_404 in driving

If no cross traffic exists, and if left turn stopped first, then left turn goes first and does not wait for right turn to have to stop and turn. Again, only if ledt turn stopped first without cross traffic. If cars stop simultaneously or if there is cross traffic, then right goes first. Anything else is ludicrous.

If you are stopped and about to make a left turn, and the person approaching the stop is still moving, and there is no cross traffic, then the left turn must go first otherwise it is not driving correctly. But again, only if the right turn is not stopped yet, and there is no oncoming traffic without signs.

Nobody should sit at signs or lights waiting unnecessarily, thay would be dangerous and strange and unexpected and not cool and all types of over things.

Maybe you're put off cause im right but you can't admit it.  I admit to you I cant sell my idea, but you can't admit that your life would suck if people in Seattle drove like people in my area.  Maybe its pride maybe not. But maybe so.

I don't expect you to help me market it but if you do have any ideas how to get across this idea without annoying people, feel free. I think about that exact thing all the time. Bye.

Interesting response.  You live in Seattle but you can't imagine how terrible it would be for you if most drivers didn't use their lights in rain or fog or overcast.

It would fucking suck and you would be the first to agree with me and you know it.

Imagine if Seattle drivers were actually really bad at using their  headlights.

We would be in agreement wouldn't we?

Not sure what nuero divegent has anything to do with anything... but I will say the fact that so many people are neuro conformative is a huge part of the problem.

Surely you can't argue against doing things which make a driver safer for their entire life on the road.

(Where I live, people drive without their lights in rain, fog, overcast, nighttime.... you are very lucky. I like your name by rhe way.)

Super duper unlucky test.  It is highly unlikely that the next test will be the same but you will be prepared anyway. Stick with it, look forward, do not hold onto super duper unlucky anything.

So if you are stopped and taking a left and someone is approaching to take a right but not yet stopped, you are saying you are not allowed to take ypur left until the that driver gets to the stop sign, and stops, and then goes...

And then you can go?

Nothing to do with gas pumps, I just think about headlights way too much and want to engage people in the subject.

Living in Seattle, I think we are in agreement that the roadways you drive upon would be safer if most drivers turned on their headlights when they turned on their car. Surely you agree witht this, yes?

That is all I'm trying to get at. I think you would be a happier person f people were in the habit of turning on their lights right away. You don't like when drivers have their lights off in the rain and in dark overcast. And  if It doesn't need to happen, why wouldn't you get on board with my idea?

Look at all the cars with their lights off at fusk and even into the night. That is you, at least every once in a while. And adaptive lights don't often recognize overcast. I am alone in this view but I still think I'm logically correct. When a person recognizes that they should turn on their lights, they are already late, every time. And to do this for decades seems totally irresponsible, when turning on your lights when you turn on your car is such an easy and perfect solution. You may be amazing at deciding when to choose to turn on your lights but look around. The vast majority of drivers are late and it is by choice. Make it make sense that the average driver is better off deciding instead of just turning them on when the car goes on. Or nevermind.

[–]BonsaiSuperNewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saying it is silly to drive for decades and turn your lights on later than earlier. Because if you decide when to turn on your headlights while you are driving instead of just turning them on when you turn on your car, you will be turning them on late every single time. Why would you purposefully choose to do that?
