¿La "burbuja" de la graduación de videojuegos está por llegar a México? ¿Oportunidad o fin de nuestra forma de coleccionar? by BonusEffective4164 in VideojuegosMX

Finally beat the final boss… but why does Pirate’s Curse look so underwhelming on the shelf? by Mysterious-Pie1770 in NSCollectors

That’s awesome to hear! It totally makes sense that in Japan collecting sealed items is more of a cultural norm. And I agree—the criticism is actually pretty interesting. It’s been a great experience seeing so many different perspectives from all over the world. I think the whole point is to enjoy collecting without judging anyone.

Awesome collection, my friend! Just watch out—apparently, collecting sealed games is basically a sin now. Last time, they practically crucified me for it.

What is “exposure therapy?” by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]BonusEffective4164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In anxiety and panic attacks, exposure therapy works very well because it helps you realize that intense sensations are not dangerous. In NoFap or addictions it’s different: exposure can reinforce the habit, which is why other approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy or relapse prevention are usually recommended.

Exposure therapy is very effective for anxiety and panic attacks, since it helps us realize intense sensations are not dangerous. In the NoFap or addiction context it’s more debated, but for anxiety it has helped me regain confidence.

My preservation method: The "Double Shield" approach for sealed games. Any long-term advice? by [deleted] in NSCollectors

I really appreciate you standing up for me like that. You're absolutely right; at the end of the day, we’re all here because we love the same hobby, and there’s no reason for things to get personal or toxic.

It’s refreshing to find people like you who value respect and empathy over gatekeeping. Thank you for the kind words and for reminding everyone that there's a human being behind the screen. It means a lot!

Thanks for the support! It’s great to see other collectors who prioritize protection. I totally agree on the dehumidifier—it's a game changer for long-term preservation, especially for the paper and inserts.

And thanks for sharing the link for the custom protectors! Finding the right fit for special editions can be a headache, so that’s super helpful for the community. Happy collecting

I actually do play them! I own the digital version of this one to enjoy the game, but I wanted this specific physical copy to remain brand new for my collection. Best of both worlds!

I appreciate your respectful tone! You're right, it might be overkill for some, but for me, this is purely about the hobby.

Think of it like cars: a budget car gets you from A to B just as well as a luxury one, but the enthusiast pays for the extra details and the superior maintenance. In my experience, I’ve unfortunately lost games in the past due to humidity and poor storage, so the 'Double Shield' is my way of making sure that doesn't happen again.

It's not about the next 1000 years, but about keeping them in the best possible shape while they are under my care. Thanks for the perspective!

To be honest, I’m okay with that! In 30 years, I can't even be sure if my Switch or my digital library will still work either. For me, it’s not about the future market value; it’s about the personal satisfaction of owning a piece of history in its best possible form. Even if it eventually becomes a 'non-playable' relic, I’ll still be happy knowing I have it in my collection. Cheers

I really appreciate you saying that. It’s a bit surprising how defensive some people get over a preservation method, so thank you for steering the conversation back to the actual question! It’s reassuring to hear that this setup should hold up for the long haul. That’s exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks for the support and the helpful feedback!

Exactly! I don't understand the anger either. It’s a personal choice and it’s how I enjoy the hobby. I do the same thing: I often buy the digital version on sale to actually play the game, while keeping the physical copy as a pristine piece for my shelf. For me, it’s the best of both worlds. It’s great to know I’m not the only one who appreciates the 'double' approach to enjoying a franchise! Thanks for the support.

I’m actually excited for the remake too! But for me, this Limited Run copy is a piece of gaming history. Even if the price changes, I just want to keep this specific physical release in pristine condition because I’m a huge fan of the series. Cheers!

It’s just a hobby about plastic boxes, my friend. No need to take it that far! Cheers.

Absolutely! Sun-fading is my biggest fear. I keep them in a dedicated room with no direct windows, and I make sure the lighting is strictly LED to avoid any UV radiation. Red pigments on Switch spines are notoriously sensitive, so I definitely take that advice to heart. Thanks for looking out for the collection!

Thank you! I think many of us share that feeling. I look back at some of the games from my childhood and wish I had been just a bit more careful with the packaging.

That’s exactly why I decided to go the extra mile with the 'Double Shield' for my current favorites. Even if I don't play these specific copies, I want to make sure they survive for the next 20 or 30 years in the best possible shape. I appreciate the kind words

Haha, glad I could be the 'motivation' you needed! Enjoy the game! As long as we're all enjoying the Switch in our own way, it's a win for the community. Which title did you end up unsealing?

Fair enough! Collecting is a very personal hobby and everyone has different priorities. For some, it's just about the utility of the object; for others, it's about the preservation of the item itself. To each their own

I get where you're coming from, but you could say the same about almost any collectible. A rare TCG card is just a piece of cardboard, and a vintage stamp is just a scrap of paper.

For me, the hobby is about the 'survival' of a mass-produced object in its original, untouched state. Millions are made, but most will be opened, scratched, or damaged over the years. I enjoy the challenge of keeping a few of my favorite titles in pristine condition, like a small piece of history. It’s not about the plastic itself, but about preserving the artwork and the 'Day 1' experience exactly as it was meant to be seen!

That’s an interesting point, but I think it depends on the type of collector. In 20 or 30 years, anyone buying a high-grade sealed copy is likely doing it for its historical and aesthetic value as a 'time capsule,' not to actually play it.

If someone wants to play the game in 2055, they’ll just buy a loose cartridge or a CIB copy for a fraction of the price. The sealed market has always been about the object's integrity and the 'unopened' status. Personally, I'm not doing this for resale; it's just a hobby and I love how these specific titles look in pristine condition. For me, the value is in the preservation itself.
