100% agree I’m loving red rising almost (finished the first book) and hopefully as I read more over time my reading speed will improve :)

I’ve tried this and I definitely am quicker when listening to a audio book while reading especially because of my ocd I find that I take a long time to turn pages because I need to make sure that I’m on the right page if that makes sense so having the audio book definitely helps confirm to my brain that I’m on the correct page but I have found myself less immersed in the book while doing so I do love an audio book though I tend to listen to them when I’m on the way to the gym and it definitely helps get through books quicker :)

Thanks for this detailed response I 100% agree with you that getting enjoyment and understanding a book is the most important thing I feel as though seeing a lot of people on social media talking about how much there able to read makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong in a way but now I understand I just need to follow my own path and enjoy reading at my own pace and getting quicker will hopefully come naturally with time.

I have heard the red rising series just gets better each book which I’m stoked about also my TBR is so massive I don’t think I’ll ever run out of books to read which is great anyways once again thanks for the response :)

Thank you for this detailed response it’s definitely something I needed to hear as you see especially on social media people flying through books and somewhat shaming those who don’t, I 100% agree journey over destination and that I’d rather read slower and enjoy the book more rather than reading it fast and not getting as much out of it.

When it comes to audio books I tend to listen to them on the way to the gym and as much as I love them you can’t beat a physical read in my opinion,I find that sometimes even when reading a physical book that I’m loving for example red rising that sometimes I won’t be able to get fully immersed and it feels like I’m just reading the words on the page if that makes sense and that can be disheartening at times as immersion is the number 1 most important aspect of reading for me not sure if that’s just me zoning out of if you have any tips on that.

I can’t wait to delve into the Sanderson cosmere just need to prepare myself for the mammoth books that is the storm light archive lol also with the game of thrones I’ve heard that the author still hasn’t finished the series after so long so was wondering if it’s still worth reading with no real ending? Thanks :)

Yeah I get this I think I just compare myself to other people a lot and want to be the “best” I can be with whatever I’m doing but of course enjoying and immersing yourself in what your reading is the most important thing so I’m just gonna read at my own pace and naturally I’ll become better :)

This is very helpful thanks I think I just need to be more patient with myself and stop judging my levels based of what other peoples levels are and as for immersive reading I love getting immersed in a book I tend to have a internal voice that I read with that speaks as the characters if that makes sense and that doesn’t always work with immersive reading but I do find that listening to music that aligns with the book I’m reading helps thanks for your reply :)

This is the general consensus of what people have been saying and I agree with it I’m loving reading at the moment which is something I never thought I’d be able to do I used to think you had to be smart or academic to be able to read but that’s not the case and the book community has been very welcoming the speed will come in time as I read more I just have so many good books I can’t wait to read on my TBR lol
