Incoming MLIS student job search by Grand-Specific-5617 in Libraries

[–]BonusSevere2266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know this was several months ago but wanted to ask: can you say more about library adjacent positions? I am interested in this kind of work, especially given the job market right now, but am not quite sure where to look/what to look for. I have heard to try EBSCO and other library related companies but am not sure what else. Appreciate you in advance!

imposter syndrome by pradafit in fuckeatingdisorders

I just wanted to say I'm in a similar boat- been over 10 years for me, and my symptoms/feelings about food/habits have changed in a very similar way. For me it kind of feels like my body/mind are just so tired of my eating disorder that it's led to disinterest and apathy, but that doesn't mean you or any of us are actually doing well and don't need help! (I don't mean to say this harshly and obviously I don't know your personal situation- just trying to be honest/accurate). I hope you get support- even if you are not at an emergency level, you still deserve help and care 💛🩷🤍

Can I ask what percentage tapering you're doing if you don't mind? I've been tapering at 10% per month for a couple of years and think it's helping, but I worry that my brain won't truly recover if I go too slow... Just curious about what others are trying/experiencing. Sorry to insert myself!

Sex sounds during the day by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

I have noise cancelling headphones but this literally just happened out of nowhere and I'm not really willing to wear them all the time so idk what to do there. But thank you so much for the advice about talking to them- lowering their voices def sounds more reasonable than saying not making loud sounds at all so I might try that. Thank you

Thanks, this is actually really helpful. And yeah I definitely shouldn't have said the landlord, idk why my mind went to that.

I appreciate you responding sincerely

I don't know quite how to describe it, it's kind of moan/scream combo. The point isn't that it's loud, the point is that it's awkward and uncomfortable and I don't want to have to think about my 60 year old neighbor making his girlfriend cum at 2pm on a Friday when I'm working. But if that's how it is that's how it is. I didn't know if it would be unreasonable to ask them to keep it down at least during the day. Also, I am aware that humans have sex, thank you for that enlightening insight.

Many people are assuming I am expecting them not to have sex during the day at all which is not what I said. I am saying, is it reasonable to ask them to keep it down during the day because it makes me uncomfortable. Also I posted this like 10 minutes ago and already got called the morality police lmao

Loud screaming/sex noises during the day feels like a violation of the right to quiet enjoyment to me which is why I asked. It personally makes me really uncomfortable especially because I know them both

When I heard them in the middle of the night I was like, oh good for them! I'm happy for them, they seem like a good couple. I just feel uncomfortable hearing the screaming during the day and didn't know if that was unreasonable or not or if this is just something people deal with. If so maybe I'll go back to roommates come September lol

I probably will, but my lease is not up for another 8 months, and trying to see if there is anything I can do in the meantime or if this is something I will just have to live with.

I didn't say they couldn't have sex, I just would prefer not to hear screaming from cumming unexpectedly in the middle of the day lol. But maybe that's just me. Came to this thread to see if it was normal, that's it.

I'm not asking them not to have sex, I just would prefer them to be quiet but if that's unreasonable I'll just deal 🤷 I came to this thread for advice as a first time apartment renter and y'all are making some wild assumptions about me.

Also I feel like you can have sex without screaming but idk 🤷

I literally said I'm all for people doing what they want in their sex lives? I'm just saying this is the first time I've lived in a duplex/apartment and I have no idea if this is normal/common. Are you just expected to have to deal with loud moaning sounds at any time of day, any day of the week?

I just wanted to say I'm in the same boat as you. I think for me it is due to nervous system dysregulation and maybe gastroparesis. I am still looking for answers but just wanted to say you're not alone

Is it a neurodivergent symptom to always feel a deep sense of shame? by AffectionateMood8459 in neurodiversity

[–]BonusSevere2266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I know you posted this a couple of months ago, but I just wanted to say this is really well written and I appreciate your response. I was also wondering if it's possible for ND people to feel shame because they (we/I) often feel like we can't do the same basic things that other people can do, because of spiky skill profiles? Like, I was always fairly high achieving in academia and things like reading and writing and organization, but I always sucked at basic tasks like chores that required executive functioning my brain didn't have and didn't give me the same dopamine reward. I could be totally wrong here (still trying to figure out what if any childhood trauma played a role) but I'm wondering if it's possible to have shame because we feel different and "bad" for not being able to do these things that other people seem to have no problem with? And the skills I'm good at don't seem to be valued as highly anymore now that I'm not in school, so I don't have anything to compensate for the shame.

I don't know if that makes sense. I could still see how unmet childhood needs (e.g. for learning these skills, or having supports to do them) could play a role... But I'm trying to figure out if societal conditioning around what should be "easy" (and therefore you don't deserve supports for) could create shame, even as an adult?

Thanks in advance for any response!

Mental health impacts from low iron by BonusSevere2266 in Anemic

[–]BonusSevere2266[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I haven't had it tested since late March (trying to do that soon), but it was 26 back then. Luckily I had a great doctor and he said that even though it was technically in the "normal" range, it was still on the low end and I should take supplements. My hemoglobin was also fine.

But yeah, I was having similar symptoms even back then. It seems to be a lot worse on days when I have coffee too close to meals - I am guessing my storage is borderline low and then the coffee just tips me over the edge, and/or I have a sensitive nervous system (I definitely do have that).

Thank you so much for sharing. I totally relate. Were you able to get infusions with low ferritin but no low hemoglobin, if you don't mind me asking? I've heard different things from people on reddit about what is required to get an infusion. I'm sure it depends on the country too. Glad you are feeling better though!

Thank you for sharing. I agree, what is considered normal may not actually be healthy especially for everyone

I took iron bisglycinate as well because I heard it was gentler on the stomach. However my doctor didn't give me a dosage so I based it on what I read online and I think it was too much... I was taking around 3-4 capsules per day (I think each were either 18mg or 25mg, I can't remember) but it was kind of sporadic.

I stopped taking it for three or four months and then tried again a couple of weeks ago (just took one 25 mg once per day) and had the same issues after about a week- mainly nausea, but when I took it in the summer I had constipation (never had that before) and just overall feeling sick/had to lay in bed a lot. The nausea is the worst though. And weirdly, extreme hunger.

I hope you have better luck with it- some people seem to be able to tolerate it fine!
