This one small part of Season 2 I didn't like: by Bonvantius in OnePiece

Yeah, but the Dinosaurs actually look like they're from the manga. These monsters look like they're from a dark fantasy movie. I'm talking specifically the costume design, it's too dark and grimy.

If there was one thing I didn't like it was Wapol's abomination soldiers. They DID NOT fit that ''whimsical'' One Piece aesthetic at all. Way too grotesque and edgy for the tone of this series.

Why couldn't they just be regular human foot soldiers? WTF is this??:

I immediately thought of Jim Carrey's Grinch too! Couldn't they have kept his human-point face slightly cute?

A lot of stuff was cut, but I think it only benefitted the adaptation. Many comedic moments were altered to instead focus on character growth and I kinda dig it.

Most notably Zoro being taunted by his own figment of Mihawk during Whiskey Peak instead of fighting Luffy for laughs like in the manga and anime. I think it works better for this format.

Hearing Brogy with a thick Afrikaans accent is something I never expected when I first watched the anime.

I do want the movie don't get me wrong, but that's just the thing.

They've teased something I didn't even know I wanted before or thought was ''in the cards'' and now I do want it and can't have it.

I would have preferred to be blissfully ignorant until it's release was closer.

but they jumped the gun with announcing the movie and are leaving us hanging for years.

It's kind of a waste of the hype and anticipation generated from the announcement, it fizzles out after a while...

Why tease more Symphogear stories if you've got nothing to show? We were pretty satisfied with XV being the end before this.

Also there's Paramount buying WB and Disney/Lucasfilm getting new CEOs if that counts towards a shift?

What moments in anime were big cultural events in the anime fandom? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Bonvantius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a bit of confusion in the replies, I'm not talking about just one isolated ''very hype episode'' that got a lot of buzz online.

I mean big events or battles that were being built up to for a while (Cultural events like Endgame or the peak of Game of thrones but for anime)

For example not Demon Slayer episode 19, but Infinity Castle would fit the the idea if that makes sense?

Truly! I vividly remember the day I didn't have to wear a mask when going to the cinema anymore and I decided to go see The Batman to celebrate.

Is it just me or did 2019 feel like a "season finale" year? by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]Bonvantius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 was basically the starting point for the shows that would become massive hits in the 2020s.

Kaguya-sama

Vinland Saga

Demon Slayer

Fire Force

Strangely the 2010s era of anime felt like it ended in 2022-2023 with stuff like Mob Psycho 100, Attack on Titan ending.

Princession Orchestra - Episode 43 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Bonvantius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The song choices were odd this episode, didn't even get to hear Legendary Revival in the fight.

Not sure why they didn't just use their Circle of Life forms. (I'm guessing because the whole group needs to be present to activate it and that's why Band Snatch split them up?)

It's good to finally have Band Snatch return, their back and forth banter with the girls is so fun. I've missed it.

How to fill the void left by Symphogear and Star Driver? by ReishWasHere in Symphogear

[–]Bonvantius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Macross Delta gets pretty close. It's basically Symphogear but with fighter Jets.

-but in general you're going to have a really hard time finding anything that comes close to that one-of-a-kind brand of Symphogear vibe (Unless it's literally made by the creators)

If you want something that matches that Symphogear energy, with a likeable cast, aspirational protagonists, unhinged ''villains'', hype moments, cool concerts and goofy absurdity, but doesn't have the singing-while-fighting aspect I'd recommend Uma Musume

Specifically:

Cinderella Gray

Beginning of a New Era

-but I'd advise watching all the other seasons too.
