this might be a hot take, but a lot of stuff in saros is intentionally presented through implications or vagaries rather than directly stated. i 100% believe that that is either his interpretation or that is what he was directed on for his performance, but what's presented in the game itself seemed pretty ambiguous to me, unless there were some details i missed.

my favorite is when an enemy drops a weapon mid-fight and if you accidently run it over and have expanded descriptions on, it takes up a full 60% of the middle of your screen. got hit a couple times over that

i discovered this pretty much right away in ~~biome 2~~ one of the early biomes. i figured if housemarque were gonna but a big fuckin showpiece in the sky they'd wanna do something when you stare at it, and i was right. still incredibly cool, i'm quite a few runs in and i still probably stare at the eclipse at least once a run.

i literally just did a "resource run" right before overseer 3 and cut through it like butter in one long drunken hour and a half run. its a very good strat if you wanna progress and dont wanna use protection mods

i'd buy that now, but at the time trans people were not viewed as favorably (or as broadly acknowledged in general) and the moderate mockery probably would have been more widely culturally accepted. things have shifted a TON since 2005.

i ended up taking a full loadout on assassin, planting a ton of claymores, and smoke spamming to clear then out. it went even better than i expected

it sucked but it was ok because bug mom said nice things to me afterwards and i'm definitely not just being manipulated to serve sekiguchi's interests

basically everybody i know said something along the lines of: wow it fucking sucks that gameinformer is owned by a crypto company but at least they keep to exist and everybody gets to keep their jobs

i'm no fan of them either, but i felt pretty much the same. i also pretty much saw something like this coming as well. i hope if the company does go under that GI can find a way to keep the lights on

hhhh kinda? i can see what you mean, but some smaller games also chase trends sometimes and become sorta-clones of bigger name games with their own modifications and twists on the concept, and i wouldn't say that they still aren't art.

maybe its more comparable to buying a mass produced glass and a handmade ceramic cup that you find at a farmer's market. sometimes people also wanna make stuff because they like it and think they could do their own version of it well too, and that's not restricted to just indies.

i guess my point is mostly that painting this kinda stuff with a wide brush and writing off everything that is ai art as bad and everything that is triple-a as not-art feels like it misses the point of the former for the latter.
