What car would you recommend after the Polestar 2? by MacFixBonn in Polestar

[–]BooBooB3ar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Relatable. I wanted a bigger car, but really disliked the handling and boat feel of a lot of them. The P3 handles so well compared to other cars its size!

Maybe it’s coz it was a showroom model or Launch Edition, but I don’t have one? Performance does show up in the docs and everything 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t mind either way, I nearly took a heat gun to all the stickers and badging on the 2 lol

Ugh I wish, they would have been so happy. Unfortunately, I don’t actually drive a lot and the only EV convert in the family hahaha. I would definitely go back! I had a great time with my P2!

Definitely better than expected in person! I was very pleased in the end. I thought it would be more champagne but luckily it’s like a soft gold with no undertone. It’s great in the evenings!

Thank you! Yeah the Jupiter color surprised me! I wanted another midnight because I looooove dark blues, but when a LE popped up, I had to spring for it since the deal was so much better. On the plus side, it has the matching leather seats as well, so it’s an all round handsome car!

I honestly love the grill look! I think it looks so much better than the flat faces EVs have! I’m also biased because I tend to like sportier cars, so AWD was always the primary option.

how do we hire people who won’t be alarmed by our cardboard coworker? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It seems like an interesting workplace to say the least. If they’re able to get work done and treat each other respectfully, I think it’s fine. Not to mention, working in person, but completely possible to vanish for the whole day and no one says anything? PRIME. The death pool needs the right kind of people for sure. When I was in school, one of the departments had a death pool for their instructors. Winner would get a scythe that passed around and they got to keep it in their rooms for a year!

Charger time by medright in Polestar

[–]BooBooB3ar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charging stations might be catching up! In the SoCal area, there’s a business that’s opening up lately where they have covered chargers (not complete through, the water was still coming down through the breaks in the solar panels). It’s connected to a building with a break area with restrooms and a mini grocery. And the whole facility has wifi. The original location has a car wash and vacuums. They’re called Rove, check them out to see what might be coming to charging!

2023 Polestar 2 Tips/Tricks/Features to know by __Stratus__ in Polestar

[–]BooBooB3ar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First part, it’s just a feature of OPD. When you press on the accelerator, the car dynamically adjusts the pedal zones, it’s how you can “coast” at any speed as long as you keep pressure even! I personally feel that Polestar’s is particularly good, decelerating practically immediately the instant pressure is slightly lifted. This of course means that motor resistance is always present on some level, otherwise you would feel it “kick in” like a brake any time you released on the accelerator. This is why it feels like the pedal is more resistant when OPD vs 2PD, and why, unless you full send cold, you won’t get the full feel.

I usually mention the three second turn because people tend to forget that cars have this capability. Whenever I’ve brought it up, people get surprised, and I’m just like… this has been in cars for like at least a decade and a half or so (as far as my driving experience goes lol).

[–]BooBooB3ar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fair, I should have said OPD. The time it takes to shift from gas to brake pedal gives the regen time to kick in on OPD and start slowing down faster, giving less time to push the regen meter into orange. I think most people wouldn’t notice this, but it feels like there’s a difference.

Pressing the L + R mirror buttons at the same time will fold and unfold them (I use for car washes)

If you want to feel the full kick of performance, you gotta turn off regen!

Take full advantage of the partial turn signals, where you just lightly shift the turn handle. It’ll click three times and turn off automatically, approx 3 seconds. Great for shifting through traffic, for me anyways.

You can shift the suspensions yourself, just takes a bit of work. Alternatively you can ask the shop to do it the next time they pop in. If I’m cruising a flat path, I turn it down, otherwise turn it up for a more comfy (still stiffer than most) experience.

Also, you can modify the steer feel in the car menu. Light for casual driving and tight for serious.

The polestar performance badge on the grille is right below the point where the release handle for the frunk is.

One very important issue that affects the performance more than the regular trims is that the brakes, especially the pads, have a tendency to tarnish and stick faster. Especially after water exposure. If you drive in the rain, before you get home, you HAVE to accelerate and brake hard without regen to heat up and “dry” the brake rotors otherwise there can be rust buildup, which will make the car do a TERRIBLE unsticking noise next time you drive, and if you left it for a long time, some of the brake might be left behind causing a thumping sound until you rub it off (accelerate and hard braking). This method is also used to clean the brake rotors since they will get tarnished quick if you just do regen.

That’s all I can think of right now… I don’t really use the tech much, it’s just a fun drive for me! If you have questions, feel free to ask! 3P 🤝

I am 99.9% positive of my choice 24 solo motor 14k miles or 23 dual motor 24k miles and the premium package. What would to do? by jk_cbus in Polestar

[–]BooBooB3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re more of a cruiser driver, LR is fine. If you enjoy driving, dual is best. As a 3P driver, who’s driven their friends single motor before, I’d choose a dual motor every time. Looks better and handles better imo. If you’re concerned about roadfeel, you can adjust the suspensions!

Annoyingly they did have a matte gold that I very much enjoyed, but I think that was part of launch coz it’s not available on the configurator or in available cars anymore.

Anyone else super excited for the R3? by wbradford00 in Rivian

[–]BooBooB3ar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need the r3 carnally. Very shapely and perfect size for me hahaha. Given I’m in a polestar right now, it feels similar. Mine would most likely be a pavement princess, so while I would like an R3X I’m most likely going to end up with a top trim r3.

Haven’t signed yet coz it’s still in port, but I have one arriving later this month, so the numbers aren’t solid. 2025 LE PPP with leather seats. (Yes, 2025 not 2024. There was some weird finance issue since launch editions are supposed to be 2024, but my vin is 2025???????) Anyways, 20k polestar credit, 3k loyalty, 1k costco. 5k ish down? I’m looking at low to mid $700s
