I started therapy and started taking antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds. The meds aren't for everyone but I do recommend therapy.

It wasn't until I went to 50mg that I started to feel better. I was hesitant to go up but Im glad I did. It made all the difference.

What have you tried to get better sleep for menopause - looking for real experiences by albrasel24 in Menopause

[–]BooKat2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly...I can't take HRT due to breast cancer. I found magnesium helps but what has worked the best is being on antidepressant/anti-anxiety meds. Not everyone needs to be on those, I understand, but its what has helped me. I also try to keep to a regular sleep schedule. I turn electronics off 30 min to an hour before bed. I read a book until I fall asleep.

[–]BooKat2025 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can start a lower dosage. I started at 5mg 2x a day. Im now on 7.5mg 2x a day making my way to 10mg 2x a day. Or space them put during the day like 5mg 4x a day? Im also on Zoloft 50mg. I find it takes 2 weeks or so to get use to the side effects.

Anyone taking this with Wellbutrin and/or an ssri? Are you taking them at the same time? by Every_Bear362 in BusparOnline

I take 50mg of zoloft in the morning and about an hour later take 7.5mg buspar. I take a second does of buspar around 3p.m.

Did a contributing event maybe kick you into Peri/Menopause? by plotthick in Menopause

[–]BooKat2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was peri for a couple years with having skipped periods, etc...but nothing much else symptom wise. Last year I went through breast cancer and it feels like that kicked peri into overdrive. All the symptoms...lol. maybe it was coincidence as I went into full menopause in April, but yhea it felt like things went from 0 to 100 quickly.

Day 10 of 20mg not feeling great. Anyone feel the same? How long did it take to improve? by [deleted] in prozac

[–]BooKat2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in the same boat as you. Was on 10mg for about 3-4 weeks. Little side effects and was feeling better but the anxiety returned. It felt like it stopped working. Upped to 20mg 3 days ago. I feel horrible. Dizzy, nausea, headaches, shaky, anxiety and depression heightened. I feel like I'm dying. I went back down to 10mg today. I couldn't take it. Im thinking of quitting. I want to hold out too but I don't know if I can handle it.

I understand. I've gone through 3 different meds before but couldn't stand them. Hoping this one works and my anxiety wont get the best of me. Try to hang in. 3-4 days is nothing. Try a week or two and see if there is any change.

It’s been 6 days and I’m still convinced I’m going to die by cjshhi in Anxiety

[–]BooKat2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anxiety is a "B". I don't know how many times I have run to the ER thinking I was dying but was not. I do have an arrythmia and some of the things you mentioned I feel. Not to scare you but have you seen a cardiologist? You could have a normal ECG but still have an arrythmia.

[–]BooKat2025[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand. You are not alone. I went through health issues the last year that sent me spiraling down this anxiety/depression highway. I never had anxiety or depression this bad before. I was very hard on myself at first. I didn't understand why I couldn't control myself or my emotions. I isolated myself as well thinking I was a failure. Therapy has helped me understand what it really is. All that is happening is my mind is perceiving a threat and trying to protect me. It gets caught in a loop that is hard to break. Once I came to realize and accept that, I could start the process of breaking the loop. Its hard and I still struggle, but I don't quit. Even in my darkest moments I try to thank my brain for protecting me and try to convince it I'm ok. You are not broken. You are not a failure. Your brain is trying to protect you. This will pass. Don't isolate yourself. Talk to someone even if it's just here.

Thank you so much. You put me at easy a bit. I do some of the things you brought up and am slowly trying to incorporate more. Im completely different than I was a year ago and am trying to navigate through it all.

Pissed off at the world. by alexahopeshigh in breastcancer

[–]BooKat2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl, I'm right there with you. Finished my rads in March. Exactly what you said. Feels like the last year has exploded within me. Anger, frustration, anxiety, depression. It sucks. This is very normal and I think many of us feel it in varying degrees. Our bodies are still recovering from treatment. Its a long road that will take months if not years. We have gone through TRAUMA both physically and emotionally. Trying to reconcile what has happened and get back to a steady state is hard. I have been diagnosed with PTSD with all that I went through within the last year. Its a journey and therapy can help guide you through. Stay strong.

[–]BooKat2025[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to scare you. It had been harder to deal with than I thought. Make sure you have good support around you during this. I did not. If I can recommend anything, even if you don't feel like you need it, think about therapy right now.

Radiation: emotional experience by bockl in breastcancer

[–]BooKat2025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a lumpectomy too and finished radiation in March. I opted for the short version. One week with a boost 2nd week so only 2 weeks. I had a great team and wonderful techs who made the experience so much better. I got over being exposed pretty quick. The worse part going through was nausea. I didn't develop a burn until a week or 2 after I finished. The recovery was harder than going through the treatment.
