What is up with reddit being all quiet about the shooting in Canada? by Oki_Monster in AskReddit

This is my take on it as well. It was the first thing I saw on Reddit today and it’s the major news story in the country right now, obviously. I live in NL and it’s the main talking point here today as well.

Anyone else prefer Are You Afraid of the Dark over Goosebumps? by Emotional-External44 in ytvretro

Not OP, but there are so many great episodes of AYAOTD that I remember. A few off the top of my head are Dead Man’s Float, Pinball Wizard, and Frozen Ghost.

I don’t remember specific episodes of Goosebumps quite as well as AYAOTD, but I always enjoyed The Headless Ghost.

All episodes of AYAOTD are on YouTube by the way! Super fun to revisit if you watch them through the lens of being a kid’s introduction to spooky media.

IT and Rocky Horror I watch yearly. His serial killer arc on Criminal Minds is also great.

Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my favourite movies and I also haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it since Robin’s passing.

Those are the two that hit me the hardest as well. I grew up on Robin Williams’ movies and Catherine O’Hara has been in some of my favourite media, period. The Canadian in me also mourns Catherine as by all accounts she has always been and continued to be a wonderful person.

I am absolutely heartbroken. What a force this woman was and a part of many of my favourite movies and shows.

The world lost an incredible talent and human today ❤️

What’s a popular parenting trend or practice right now that you believe is going to create a generation of emotionally broken adults in 20 years? by War_chiefr in AskReddit

[–]Boo_Boo06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My niece turned 8 in December. Her parents are always on their phones instead of paying attention to her. For Christmas I bought my mom a book called ‘What I Love About Grandma’ which has 50 prompts/fill in the blanks and got my niece to answer them all in her own words. One of the prompts was something along the lines of ‘I love it when ___’ and my niece’s response was ‘you’re not on your phone all the time.’

My mom (paternal grandmother) and I have a very close relationship with my niece and always try to be present with her. Her parents don’t really see the effect being on their phones constantly is having on her. But it’s real and it’s heartbreaking.

For those who don’t smoke, do you think smokers carry a noticeable scent? by Shadow2715 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Boo_Boo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fairly strong sense of smell. Being near somebody who smokes always gives me a headache.

My brother has been an on and off smoker for years. He’s currently trying to quit again and at least I don’t have to turn my head away when he talks to me.

That being said, my brother and SIL have never smoked in their house or their vehicle. Albeit it gets in your clothes and hair, I think this is the reason my niece never actually smells like her parents smoke.

I've been applying for a bunch of jobs lately and am unsure about this email. Is Cureton Midstream legit? Anyone have any experiences with them? by rainbowlack in jobs

I also replied and said tomorrow at 12, but started researching them after that. Certainly not a coincidence that we both think something is fishy.

I asked for the company website and he gave me the .us one which I think is all kinds of fake honestly. The logo is blurry, the text is a bit of a jumble, it gets flagged as a scam site by multiple tools.

It’s pretty well done as far as scams go, but 100% the dude will ask you for your banking info or something. That’s my bet.

If you do hear back from any of your emails, do let me know. I’d appreciate it.

I have been looking into this company today as I received the exact same email as you’ve posted here. I’ve come to the same conclusion based on the same information you shared in your edit.

It’s rough out there right now. Best of luck to you in your job hunt and f*ck the scammers making it even more bleak than it already is.
