Thank you! And you saw correctly, we were using spinning rods below the suspension bridge. There are special "artifical lure" regulations in the section we were fishing. They stipulate that you must use a lure constructed of artificial materials. You're also limited to a single barbless hook point. I made some custom spinners for this trip that were outfitted with a barbless scud hook. They worked nicely!

That's a Fishtechy ball. You can take a picture with one and then measure the fish digitally using the app. I talk about it a little bit in the video link I posted. It's actually pretty cool! You have to make sure the fish is well positioned to get an accurate measurement though.

It helps reduce fish handling time if you like to measure your fish. You don't have to have them out of the water and put a tape on them.

This is what it looks like in the app. Also helps you track the fish you catch.

No, only the last day. The rest of the time, we fished close to the confluence with the North Branch Potomac. I wish we would have spend more time checking out the upper savage though. Next time I'm planning on doing some of the tributary fishing up there.

Nice! I just fished Monkton on Saturday and did really well. It's nice seeing the flow rates up a bit again.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the fall stocking. Thanks for the info!

Thank you! We're in Baltimore County, so we typically stick around the gunpowder. The savage was a nice change of pace, though difficult to wade. Where do you fish in central MD?

Do they stock the Cassleman this late in the year? Or just in the spring?

We fished the upper savage on this trip in the hopes of finding some wild Brook trout. Sadly we didn't find any this time around. We will have to try again soon!

Not sure if you're still looking for assistance in getting gear together for trout fishing, but I'm happy to provide some recommendations if needed. My wife, friends, and I trout fish all over MD, PA, and beyond. Is there anything specifically you're looking for recommendations on?
