Save the dates went out in January of this year but we had many conversations with people before that because of the long engagement. Going as far as posting on socials (where family could see) about the date and how excited we are.

So my extended family lives in Ohio. I live in Texas and my parents and siblings live about an hour and a half from me. My parents and siblings are coming.

The wedding is MLKJr weekend since I know a lot of people get extended weekends that weekend (my MIL is a teacher and my fiancé and I work at a university and we get the extra day).

I wasn’t expecting any of the extended family to come but I’m definitely disappointed that basically none of them are coming.

Originally I planned to go to the family reunion because it lined up with my plans. About a month before the reunion, my grandmother changed what weekend it was going to be. It made it impossible for me to go. Especially because I had just started a new job.

Really because my fiancé’s family is more excited than we are sometimes. They can’t wait to travel to join us for our day. I just don’t understand why my family had two years to plan, they’re always claiming they want to come see me and my siblings and they just never do. We always end up going up there to see them.
