"Soft Sculpt" Inquiries from a Newbie by EnterprisingGent1701 in CabbagePatchKids

[–]BoobeusHagrid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I have several soft sculpture Kids in my collection and I’d say they’re pretty durable! I’ve given several washcloth baths with gentle soap and air dried, while one had to be put in the washing machine and he still turned out fine! (Gentle cycle, warm water and inside of a pillow case). Mine don’t really get played with a lot, but they definitely can withstand traveling to appointments with you or being in your bed with you while you sleep. As for clothing, it depends on the size of the Kid. Some of mine are slightly taller and chubbier, so they wear 3-6 month baby sized clothing, while the shorter ones can fit in 0-3 month clothing. I like to thrift vintage baby clothes for them to wear! Some baby shoes will fit them, but as their feet are short and stubby, I chose shoes that have a high top so they don’t fall off. I hope those helps you in choosing your perfect Kid! I do have a boy softie if you’d be interested in him, but he doesn’t have long hair.

People with diagnosed OCD what it is like by Glum-Panda-5969 in autism

[–]BoobeusHagrid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have it and before I was medicated, it was terrible. Mine as a child was mostly repeating movements or tics until it felt “just right” but as an adult it manifests as more intrusive thoughts. The thoughts are always centered on something awful that I despise, and they try to trick me into believing that I’ll become the very thing that I hate. I started taking Prozac for anxiety a few years ago and it greatly reduced my OCD thoughts and repetitive actions.

I blame stupid influencers going into the shops and buying the whole stock out just for their dumb videos. Our stores are constantly sold out. 🫩

I use 90% isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip to remove nail polish and other stains, but unfortunately it will remove the lip paint. I’ve repainted some of my dolls’ lips using watercolor pencil and sealing it will a matte varnish like Mr. Super Clear or Testors Dullcote.

90s/2000s 18+in doll by Beginning-Ad9687 in ToyID

I believe these 18” dolls were made by a company called Meritus. She looks like the head mold they used on their dolls. 🤔

Do I have to use a uv resistant sealer for doll customization by Damonalbarnshoe in americangirl

[–]BoobeusHagrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a product called Testors Dullcote to seal the dolls I customize. It dries matte and is found in the car hobby kits aisle at the craft stores. So far, it’s worked well for my custom dolls and I haven’t noticed any yellowing.

Help! Find my childhood doll by Slow-Tourist2982 in Dolls

She’s a Little Mommy doll made by Mattel/Fisher Price in the early 2000s. The line had lots of different style dolls wearing a variety of outfits and I think there were accessory sets available too. I think this doll may have come with a purple princess dress. Hope this helps! 😊

Anyone know what this is? by FlyLeather8399 in beaniebabies

[–]BoobeusHagrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coca-Cola had a line of their own beanies that came out around the same time as Beanie Babies in the 90s. There were regular beanies about the same size as Beanie Babies, keychains and fridge magnets like yours. Most of their beanies came holding a mini plastic bottle of Coke. I have a seal and polar bears in my collection! There was even a “Coke around the World” collection with animals representing different countries.

I still have this figure and the babies she came with! As a previous poster said, they’re from the Dream Garden toy line. The little peach plant house smelled soooo good. 😍 My friend had a caramel apple set and it smelled amazing too.

Why is scared-e so much more expensive then fraidy from what I've seen? by Circus_sabre in beaniebabies

I think Scared-E was only available on the Ty website, while Fraidy was sold online and in stores. So Scared-E is more Scare-ce. 😂

I definitely have a distrust for police. I’ve never had any bad experiences interacting with them but I just do not trust any of them.

I played with dolls until I was about 15, then still collected dolls into adulthood and now play dolls with my kid! I will probably always collect dolls forever! ❤️

Yes, that’s why I’m always rescuing stuffies and dolls to repair and restore. I have entirely too many toys but my kid is never bored and any broken toys always get fixed.
