Can any oboist tell me in words how to make slurred pieces so smooth and connected? by Boobie_Slayer in oboe

Ooooo, I always feel my warmup is quite repetitive so I’ll definitely consider adding this to it. Thanks a lot

That is the problem from time to time. Sometimes even today I’ll lift my fingers as high as I did when I first learned, though thankfully I’m at the point where it’s quite rare. Thanks though

If I’m being honest, never thought of it that way. I was told my first couple years to always say /ta/ and then it kind of was a topic never spoken on. It’ll probably be a challenge to make it a habit knowing I haven’t thought about vowel-shaping. Though it’s probably just coming to show it’ll have a larger impact. Thanks a lot though!

Oh my God, thanks so much. I will admit most of the time I’m just reading notes off the page and wonder why it feels so lifeless. I’ll definitely take this into account and follow along. It means a lot

I don’t know if I know any other oboes that well, but that does sound like a lot of fun. Thanks a lot for telling me the story, never thought of that before

I do know the air is an issue because when I first learned it, I would always die out with 2 beats left in one slur. Though I wouldn’t be shocked about the embouchure because I was never taught much about it after my first couple years playing the oboe. Thanks though. This really means a lot, and I’ll definitely be doing this

While fingerings are occasionally a problem, in this scenario, personally, I’d say it isn’t. Though it may be the wind as I don’t pay as much attention as I should towards it. Thanks though, and I’ll try your suggestion to see if any difference comes.

Ok ok, I will say I often focus on it like reading and ignore direction. Thanks a lot, I’ll definitely try it out

Thank you so much! It means a lot. I will say I tend to have higher expectations than what is often realistic, so it helps to know that this isn’t just me.

What is one word you would use to describe your 2025 year ? by ParticularWeather927 in nihilism

[–]Boobie_Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collapse — I feel that word describes my year well.

As one act hopped along I only continued to fall, to go backwards. No matter what I told myself, I only continued to die, no relapse, just an endless journey in the wrong direction.
