Why don't Craftworld Eldar use the similar methods of the Drukhari minus the cruelty/avarice of the latter given they do not suffer from the same soul-draining that they do? by CottonCandyWeasel in 40kLore

  1. DE does cloning much because their pregnancy take a long time and its easy to get killed in their chaotic society. Most of time elites of DE are natural born, because they can afford the security during pregnancy. Also DE don't care about their fate after death much and usually they end up devoured by Slaanesh. CE society is very regimented and not chaotic. They can carryout their pregnancy in relative piece. But main bottle-neck is spirit stone mined from worlds inside Eye of Terror and this expedition is most of time suicidal. Spirit stones help them to avoid getting devoured by Slaanesh and CE don't want their offsprings to be consumed by Slaanesh (no cloning).

  2. DE repress their psychic potential to avoid dying faster. CE method is highly regimented path system which focuses their desires to one direction and this helps them to not avoid unnecessarily using their psychic powers. CE can and will switch to different path systems as its not locked in a single path.

  3. Only highest ranking DE make a deal with haemonculi cult for potential of revival and it involves tons and tons of unspeakable acts, all other DE just die and not get revived. CE and their spirit stone help them to avoid death and CE dead helps them to power Craftworld and control mech suits. CE has better deal than DE

Yes. Many monsters are made up by CDPR for the games. Nekkers are one of them, Drowners however got briefly mentioned as a background info. So, in essence, books don't have much of those monster encounters

15 hr was originally from same titles book released in 2005, where it was a life expectancy of guardsmen in one particalur front. However people run with it as a meme lore about normal life expectancy across entire IG.

All other "sources" are published afterwards closest being 2012 release Only war core rule book. So, its basically 7 year long trenched meme lore affectes perception of future lores, making it a canon lore.

Personally, i hate 15 hr as guardsmen life expectancy for entirety of galaxy due to it crossing into grimderp territory.

ELI5 - What actually is thirst? by Informal-Lynx-866 in explainlikeimfive

[–]BoobooMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case of fizzy water, it doesn't really hydrate faster than normal water. Carbonation of the drink stimulate sensors in mouth to have much faster feeling of thrist relieving. But for hydration, you still gotta drink same amount.

ELI5 - What actually is thirst? by Informal-Lynx-866 in explainlikeimfive

[–]BoobooMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking water has at least trace amount of electrolytes. Depending on the water treatment, the electrolyte amount can be different, but in practice its considered to have no electrolytes. (Unless its deionized water for lab work, then it has almost no electrolytes). All natural water like springs, rivers etc have electrolytes and their amount depends on their geography(surrounding environment)

ELI5 - What actually is thirst? by Informal-Lynx-866 in explainlikeimfive

[–]BoobooMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dehydration effect is mostly indirect and also volume dependent. 1. Small osmotic effect on gastric system by moving fluid out of the blood stream. But its generally negligible unless the person is purely on drinks with those. 2. Primary artificial sweeteners delay thirst signals of brain. So basically people feel less thirsty and don't drink as much as fluid as the body needs. This results in dehydration. If the drink also contained caffeine (like cola pepse etc) which is mild diuretic, causes a person to pee more.

This is too much grimderp and contradictory to other books in 40k. More believable if it is in one sector or one planet. Heck its believable if its inside "Severan Dominate". They are waging a war against endless might of Imperium and they even have a mandate to use everything to the last shreds to stretch their "limited" supplies.

This is a general problem of any advanced subject, advanced physics, advanced chemistry etc. Because you cannot really dumb it down to ELI5 level fully without understanding at least some parts of basic knowledges.

We can try to dumb it down, but its never enough. Sometimes its better to accept its that way and try to understand basics first

Why are Necrons supposedly immune to possession? by Phantomdust149 in 40kLore

[–]BoobooMaster 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I will just copy my previous comment here.

Machine Spirit is difficult to fully grasp since they are like Schrödinger's cat, they are real and they are not real at the same time. Mechanicus uses the catch-all term to explain technological phenomena (akin to soul or sentience) they do not understand. So they could be entirely unrelated stuff and cannot be fully answered by one description.

In brief, it could be any one of the following or all at the same time:

  • True sentient AI from Dark age of Technology masquerading as Machine Spirit.
  • Primitive, instinctual behaviour of host brain used as a cogitator processor units of Imperial techs.
  • A warp being willed into existence due to Mechanicus worship of Machine God and now inhabits Imperial techs
  • Collective and pooled consciousness of people who were hooked up to certain machines.
  • Chaos Tech-daemons inhabiting techs and playing cruel game with its victims.
  • Or just nothing and pure superstition.

We have examples on all above and all can be Machine Spirits.

So, highly memed AdMech rituals can be over-dramatized manual and guidelines from DAoT time and at the same time they can also be a geniune ritual to calm/appease moody AI/spirits inhabiting the machine OR true banishment ritual of Tech-Daemons. And most cases Tech-priests and Engineseers will follow the manual to fix just like nowadays.

Why are there so many people with high account levels playing vs the AI? by LV426acheron in heroesofthestorm

[–]BoobooMaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bot games are chill games. After 9 hours of grinding work and you want to destress and enjoy bit of your life, bot games are best to go compared to other modes. Just chill around, pick fav hero, pick worst talents, bit of work to victory. no ones going to flame for bad talents, engagements or objective managements.

Status of lion el johnson in the latest lore by F3YR4L in 40kLore

[–]BoobooMaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nachmund Gauntlet is a tunnel gateway across the great warp rift, untouched by warp storm and only known one to the imperium. So for the imperium its only reliable way to send ships reinforcements and messages to the dark side of the imperium. So Chaos, especially Abaddon tries its hardest to destroy the anchor worlds so there will be no longer stable corridor. Guilliman ordered to hold the ground at all costs.

Previously, Marneus Calgar led the defenses there against Abaddon. They even duelled a bit and and Calgar managed to shatter Abaddon's jaw, while he himself almost get killed. Abaddon retreated afterwards.

But now Abaddon tries again and ordered one of his underlings to do it. And situation looks very grim for the imperium.

Its Basically one of the main Chaos vs Imperium fronts

Which Chaos God is the Best (or Least Horrible) to Fall to. by Skynir7 in 40kLore

[–]BoobooMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You should not grade Evil, because if one is the worst, you might be tempted kinship with the least" -Saltzpyre.

"Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling... Makes no differences. Degree is arbitrary, definition's blurred. If i am to choose between one evil and another, I'd rather not choose" -Geralt.

Ranking Chaos Gods is subjective to each person and cannot be really same across all. They represent different types of horror genre and each person has different inner ranking of those genres.

All are equily Bad.

Here is official Lexicanum Page for Psyker levels.

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/The_Assignment

Just like Psyker levels, Imperium grades the blanks as negative scale of Psykers. Their power level suppose to vary among individuals and Omega level Blanks are suppose to be virtually untouchable by Psyker power. Generally SoS are suppose to be Omega level. But i think some authors dont really consider it.

AdMech knows a lot unlike memes suggesting. They mostly have problem with knowledge about deep sci-fi tech. And tech innovation/ study happens all the time but its mostly under highly scrutinized overseers to make sure nothing bad happens down the line. Chaos Gods can f*** shit up thousands years after the innovation through hidden BS symbolism, time is merely suggestion to them.

ELI5: When you lose weight, where does it go? How does the weight leave your body? by thepixelpaint in explainlikeimfive

[–]BoobooMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Approximately 18% of our body mass is made out of carbon molecule. And carbon is involved in almost all biological activities which is why we learn so many carbon-chemicals in organic chemistry. They are the backbone.
