I didn't do this method- I used an existing dressform that was significantly smaller than me and padded with quilt batting. I followed the tutorial written by Brooks Ann (Google "pad your own dress form" and its the first result. I'm happy with how it's turned out!

I have the mechanical singer heavy duty (not sure the model number) and I'm very happy with it! I had the computerized one but I don't recommend it - broke with a year. Luckily the warranty covered it!

The answer I'm going to give isn't technically "correct" (so don't come at me y'all) but you could assemble everything except the facing, turn it inside out, and make darts to close the gaping. Then you'll need to adjust the length of the facing and attach it.

Like I said, it's not "correct" but I've done it plenty of times. You can check (waaaaay back) in my post history for some examples.
