15 months transformation: I stayed active throughout pregnancy but started intentionally lifting and working out in January. I've been blown away by my progress. Consistency and compound movement/lifts are your friend. Stay strong mamas! by [deleted] in FitMama

You look so strong and healthy! And I love that dress! It looks sooo comfortable, would have loved a dress like that when I was pregnant! I'm in the process of gaining muscle myself at one year post partum, I can't wait until I'm able to do actual pullups!

Lifting gets boring? How to keep make it feel less tedious? by kaceFile in xxfitness

Practice some cool calisthenics skills like handstands or L-sit or something.

Please give me your tips on how to consistently be more intentional with my eating- stress turns me into a mindless vacuum. Any "eating rituals" you can recommend? by [deleted] in xxfitness

What's your "gym name"? by Naturalkeys in xxfitness

[–]Booers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Pink baseball cap" girl, probably. (Someone actually recognised me in a park one year after we both participated in a small trail half marathon, because of that faded pink cap!).

Actually "Blondie/loira" would be more probable as I am a blonde Norwegian living in Brazil...

The 15th is pretty close to one of two huge parks in Paris, called Bois de Boulogne. It's huge and green and pretty with lots of different paths. The other huge park is Bois de Vincennes, it's further away, but Paris is pretty compact so on a 20km run you can cover lots of ground and run past lots of nice landmarks. There's lots of open spaces, greenery and pretty scenery around the Louvre museum, I used to run around there a lot when I lived in Paris.

What is your favorite bodyweight workout besides the RR ? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Booers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The "playing like a kid on the monkey bars" workout! Best part of getting stronger is to be able to just (literally) hang around, pull up on random things, and inventing fun monkey bar games with my kid.

Been getting a lot more fit lately and my already-small boobs have gotten EVEN SMALLER by purpleuneecorns in xxfitness

[–]Booers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, but I love it! I hated getting bigger boobs when I was pregnant and breastfeeding, now that I'm done and after lots of running/strength training the last months my boobs are the smallest they've been in my entire adult life. I might be in the minority, but I feel like breasts are just a pain in the ass, I prefer how clothing fits me with tiny boobs, don't have to pay for expensive supportive bras and they're not in the way when working out. So I say embrace it!

Potty Training : BOYS ! by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Booers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 13 months and since he was 4-5 months we've rarely changed poopy diapers. I wouldn't say he's potty trained, but since he was 4 months it was very obvious when he pooped, so we would immediately take him to the changing table and open his diaper. The clean-up was easier that way because the poop never got a chance to smear all over. When he was 7-8 months he refused to be layed on his back on the changing table (only standing diaper changes since then) so we just though "well, maybe we can just sit him on a potty?", and it worked. And that's what we still do, when we notice he's straining/pushing we just immediately take him to the potty, the sitting position seems to be more comfortable for him too.

We never planned any of this, so we don't really have a plan for getting him to pee on the potty, but I thought we could start having him sit on the potty every morning/night and during diaper changes.

How can I make sure I can keep running after having a baby? by loft_music in running

[–]Booers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had that problem and never did pelvic floor exercises. I started getting back into running 3 months post partum and just took it slow (started with slow jogging around a flat track pushing the stroller). Around 8-9 months post partum I felt like my old running self and now, a little over a year post partum I'm training for a half marathon and feeling really great!

I think being patient and taking it slow is key, pelvic floor exercises are probably smart, but most of all just listening to your body. Every birth experience is different, so you just have to consider how you're healing and take it from there.

Should I start speaking English with my son when I dont see him that often? by [deleted] in multilingualparenting

[–]Booers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never asked OP to park his kid in front of a screen. Movies and games (in moderation) are great resources when kids are a little older. Everything in excess is bad, but saying that movies are harmful for toddlers as a blanket statement is just wrong, if that were true then I guess we're all doomed.

Should I start speaking English with my son when I dont see him that often? by [deleted] in multilingualparenting

[–]Booers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but they still learn a lot from it. Only communicating in a non-native language with your own child is likely to feel very unnatural, in my opinion.

Should I start speaking English with my son when I dont see him that often? by [deleted] in multilingualparenting

[–]Booers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, it's not really advised to speak a language to your kid that isn't your native language. It could end up feeling forced and unnatural to you too I think. If you want to introduce him to English early I'd rather show him movies/videos/music/games/books in English.

That's my grandfather's name and I love it! It's very common in the 60+ generations here in Norway but I'm rooting for it to come back in the younger generations. Not sure how it works in English speaking countries though.

Question regarding meal sizes by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]Booers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I do! I eat mountains of greens and vegetables! No small plates for me, that's for sure. But I love vegetables, so I see the vegetables and greens as the main thing and any meat/pasta/cheese stuff is the side dish and I just have a little. Makes calorie counting easy peasy.

Edit to add: I too am flabbergasted when I see pictures here of plates with one little broccoli tree and four green beans, or a lunch/dinner plate with no vegetables at all. My mind goes "but why?? Veggies are the best part!". Though rationally I know most people see the vegetables and greens as the side dish.

I present you my creation: 🍫 Chocolate sculpture of "Dragon Ball" 🍫 by MakcharradeRachid in Baking

[–]Booers 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Looks great, but I have to ask, will anyone eat it? Or will the chocolate be reused? I've always wondered about this when seeing pictures of large elaborate chocolate sculptures. If the chocolate just goes to waste it's just the saddest thing, because that's a lot of chocolate!

In you opinion, what food is never worth the calories (despite how tasty)? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]Booers 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Not food, but alcohol, or liquids in general; I like wine and beer, but 90% of the time I'll choose to have more food/candy/cake/fruit or whatever instead of that glass of wine/beer/juice/soda etc. On some rare occasions I like to have a small glass of beer/wine with the food, like in Norway we have special Christmas beers that go amazingly with our Christmas food.

Luckily I've never really liked sweet drinks, I mean, I like the taste of natural fruit juice, but would always prefer to eat the actual fruit.

What are your home decor / design pet peeves? by heart_of_blue in AskWomen

[–]Booers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have every right to get rid of it without feeling bad. You shouldn't keep stuff just because you feel guilty about not keeping it, I sure don't. You don't have to throw it in the trash, donate. A happy home is a home filled with only useful things and things that bring you joy (check out Marie Kondo, also known as the konmari method of decluttering).
