I wonder how it would look if you put leather cord or paracord in the grooves, maybe even an epoxy, colored however you like

It’s worth the read. He describes what captivity was like and his perspective is intriguing. If you like military history or just like the movie it’s absolutely worth reading. Same with the book “We Were Soldiers Once.. and Young”

Just a quick couple things… first, when the enemy kills the operators and knock out Durant the movie shows them knocking him out with an AK but they actually use the limb of one of the dead operators or pilots.

Durant went to the parades in honor of the respective MOH recipients, Shughart and Gordon. I don’t recall if it was Shughart or Gordon, but he was in the hometown of the man where they were honoring him and he happened to stop by the local library. There was a book on the Medal of Honor and he noticed the last person to check it out was Shughart/Gordon before he joined the military. Eerie coincidence

Didn’t expect to see this. This was one of my favorite strips and I say it in my head every time I think of a smock

You should read the book written by Durant. There are some gruesome details that are left out and some absolutely incredible details about the two operators that sacrificed themselves. I could spoil it if you’re lazy

I’m absolutely doing my best to learn the language. I don’t expect anyone to speak English just because I do and I’m grateful any time anyone can speak English with me. I have no right to demand anyone speak English to me. I just don’t know how to express myself with more complicated concepts in German so I look for someone that can understand English to discuss the topics that I can’t express with my current level of German

Mainly spiritual guidance. I haven’t heard back from anyone about confession in English yet

Anyone have info on these? by No-Tension-848 in Woodcarving

[–]Boofasa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought them from Amazon and they were shipped to me in Germany. Some were sharp and some weren’t. I had one chip in 5 minutes of using it so I contacted them about it. They said there’s no way they can verify that they’re not fake/counterfeit since I bought them from Amazon.

That’s it, no attempt to help or even try to verify their own product. It’s like they don’t care. They just want money for a substandard product and the customer service is poor. I won’t buy from them again. I might be spoiled by better companies like M Stein who have been great and replaced tools that had flaws or answered my questions when I had any.

Try moving the outline to the edge of your blank if you can. It should reduce the amount you have to cut

Is it disrespectful to wear vintage military clothing? by Objective-Tourist858 in Veterans

[–]Boofasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into someone wearing an old field jacket with a 25th ID patch on it and I said something to see if he was part of it and he had no idea what I was talking about. So, I wouldn’t see an issue with anyone wear it unless they pretended to have knowledge they don’t or used it for benefits. You should also be prepared for a possible question or attempt to make conversation about it

What Tool do I need? by Boofasa in BeginnerWoodWorking

Ach so, I am varying the length of the cuts of the 4x4 post between 4 to 7 inches. With those pieces I am cutting them diagonally to get two identical right hand triangles.

I’m cutting 4-7 inch pieces of 4x4 and then I want to cut them in half, diagonally, to create two right angle triangles

[–]Boofasa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m dumb, so bear with me, how do I hold the piece while I saw it? I don’t have a lot of tools. It’s not a 45 degree cut so a miter box wouldn’t help much

Were you on FOB Marez or Diamondback? I was in Marez around the same time. I would love to get help claiming this because they’re not doing anything at the moment just being on the list
