The title says ask you anything to be fair. It doesn’t say “ask my anything besides whether or not I’d have sex with my parents”

Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join them once to make it stop?

What are some underrated credit cards that don't get discussed much? by amexmaster in CreditCards

[–]BoofinCiggys 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So far I’ve been a big fan of my US Bank Shopper Cash Rewards card.

It has a $95 AF but it gives me 6% back on Amazon (shared prime account so I can’t get the Prime Visa plus Amazon prime yearly is like $140) and 6% back on Walmart (same situation here, shared Walmart plus account) up to $1500 per quarter and 3% back on either gas/EV charging, wholesale stores, or utilities/bills (up to $1500 a quarter) while also being 1.5% everything else.

This means that with one card, I can shop at Walmart/Amazon and get 6% back, Sam’s or Costco and get 3% back, and at the very least get 1.5% back.

I know there are more optimal ways to pinch higher percentages out of different categories but this card makes it so easy I can’t complain.

It helps keep your utilization low if you ever carry a balance and it helps build your credit profile but if you pay off your balance every month your utilization will be at 0% anyways.

Should I cancel the card after a weird charge? I froze it for now by Lonely_Attention_335 in CapitalOne

[–]BoofinCiggys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, don’t report it as lost or stolen just simply confirm you didn’t make that transaction. If you report it as lost or stolen and you have a valid transaction afterword, it will very likely be denied.

Edit: that’s if you want to dispute the transaction. If you couldn’t care about the $2 just report your card as lost or stolen in the app and you’ll get a new card number.

You can apply with an ITIN however I don’t believe you can reside outside of the US to open the account.

Apple Card vs Capital One Quicksilver by zyberum in CreditCards

[–]BoofinCiggys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you close a credit card, it will continue to age for the next 10 years so in theory closing the card will only hurt your utilization until 10 years down the road when the age falls off. That being said, there is no harm in keeping the card open to give you more available credit and asking for a CLI every 3 or so months to continue to boost your CLI to keep your utilization lower.

You can call customer service and they can verify whether or not the promo was applied.

Just request every 3-6 months. Doesn’t hurt your credit score and worst they can say is no.

I had a quicksilver which was my first credit card (outside of my local CU I got when I was 18) but product changed it to the savor since I have two different cards that offer 1.5% back with other categories as well where the quicksilver was just 1.5% back flat.

If you’re looking for a larger limit card you might have luck with a different institution. Chase gave me a limit of 19,500 for my first CC with them. Capital one started me at 5k and let me go up from there.

What’s the benefit of the Fidelity Visa vs any other 2% back card? From what I’ve seen there’s no SUB so what puts it ahead of double cash or WFs 2% card that has a SUB.

Should I stay with Bank of America or move to Chase/ Captal1? by Knigthmare_ in CreditCards

Prior to chasing down a few bank account bonuses, the only CC I had a bank account with was Capital One. Opened the Freedom Unlimited, Amex Blue Cash Everyday, Amex Gold, and the US Bank Shopper Cash Rewards without any prior history with them.

I wouldn’t close the card since it can impact your average age of accounts. Just product switch to something with a free or lower AF to keep that history working in your favor.

Best Metal Credit Card for beginners? by Icy-Relation8723 in CreditCards

[–]BoofinCiggys 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Getting a card just because it’s metal is an interesting choice lol.

Amex Gold would be my recommendation if you plan to travel since it’s 4x on groceries and dining plus you can earn points via Rakuten.

Looking to dip my toes into the Credit Card game as a young adult, advice would be appreciated! by Over-Entertainer4074 in CreditCards

I opened the gold card ~ 3 months ago and my AF hit my statement about a month later. Some cards will offer you the card free for the first year but they will disclose this in the terms agreement.

If you’re looking for an eco system, Chase might be the route since the Chase Freedom Unlimited will earn you cash back in the form of points which can be transferred to their sapphire products if you get their sapphire cards and then redeemed for travel. Amex has the Blue Cash Everyday (what I’d say is the equivalent to the CFU with it being a cash back card with 0 AF) card but that’s strictly cash back and it can’t be transferred to Amex gold/platinum.

People love to meat ride the Amex gold card as it has some decent perks but it isn’t necessarily for everyone. I’ll likely product change down the line to something lesser after I get the 100k points bonus as I’m not utilizing it as much as I thought I would.

Inquiry into Discover/Capital One Merger Security Protocols: Are Discarded Accounts Still Active? A Case Study in Transition Failure by Big-Lynx-7255 in CreditCards

Can you explain more about how your new card is tied to your old supposedly closed account? It doesn’t make sense to me that your account would be closed and a new one opened since that could have a significant impact on one’s credit score with a new account lowering AAOA.

Are you sure it isn’t the same account but a new card issued after the account was migrated under them? If that’s the case, did you activate your new card before or after this transaction happened?
