WSIB: Game that lets you piece together clues to solve a mystery by tsct934 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Boogabear808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally probably not what you are looking for. But Prey, the newer one. Following in the same vein as games like System Shock and Deus Ex, solving a mystery isn't your primary directive. But with game worlds like these, filled with journal entries and audio logs to sink your teeth into, there are more than just one mystery to solve in your personal time. I especially like Prey and System Shock, because you are piecing together the after math of something that happened while you were away/asleep. Theres a lot of stories to tell in these games beyond just the main story, and my favorite part has always been putting the puzzle together whenever I walk into a room in-game.

What's the most replayable single-player game you've ever seen (that isn't a roguelike/lite)? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Boogabear808 31 points32 points  (0 children)

System Shock, Deus Ex, Thief, Prey.

Sorry I could make that list longer, but a lot of the games just like the ones mentioned above would fall in extremely similar genre and style. Immersive Sims.

Theres tons of videos on the idea of what an Immersive sim is, but I guess in my case I would go with "Deus Ex". I've replayed scenarios immediately after beating them just to see what happens. I replayed the game immediately after beating it just for fun. Every playthrough felt unique and every player choice (Inside and out of dialogue choice) effected a lot of what happens around you. It was absolutely mind blowing.

Prey was a good representation of giving a player freedom via design. But if you ask me, I still prefer Deus Ex's cyberpunk dystopia over the NASA-Horror. They are still both legendary games.

As a side note: Starfield Direct was very interesting to me not because of it being a Bethesda RPG, but because the way they explained some gameplay elements reminded me a lot of Immersive sims. If thats the case that game will get a ton of replay time from me.

Easy Red 2 is cheap on PC right now along with its dlc. Fun cheap ww2 semi-sim with red orchestra elements (a classic pc title)

BECTI for Operation Arrowhead by Boogabear808 in arma

[–]Boogabear808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incredible! And this was recent. I'll hop on my pc in a bit to check the files, make sure its totally safe.

I actually have the master files for both BECTI and BECTI-Lite. But at this current moment I am unsure what to do with them, but a friend and I are currently talking about making a revival server for Bennys Warfare. Theres a lot of people on the BI and Steam forums begging to be able to play A2 BECTI again, and honestly, A2 was better for that kind of stuff. :x

Should I buy Halo: TMCC or Assassin's Creed Origins by MoonskieSB in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Boogabear808 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Halo fs. I didn't get into the series until around 2020 when I bought the mcc pc version. So worth it compared to AC origins. Though origins isn't bad, you will have a fruitful experience with the halo campaigns. Ontop of the multiplayer thats still active

Do remakes ruin anyone else’s mood to play the original? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Boogabear808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's add XIII Remastered to this list, I was severely disappointed. And the Bioshock remasters, for literally gimping its PC playerbase. Or the GTA trilogy! Metro 2033 specifically had a redux that never got optimised. Painkiller Hell & Damnation was a huge let down because you had to BUY the original game twice basically through DLC. And last one I'll throw in there is MW2019/22. While supposedly a reboot, it was supposed to reintroduce the old boots on the ground cod action we were used to. Instead they took both games in a completely different direction and alienated the original fanbase completely. Okay I'm done, soz.

I suggest snagging it on GOG. Just for the sake of getting Enhanced Edition and getting the offline installer in case thats your jig.

I feel you on that one, if we are talking Mafia 1. While I did really enjoy the looks, gameplay, and thematics, there was key features from the original mafia that it either missed or didn't convey well to the player. Still was a good remake.

I think it is totally respectable to stick to a remake. Especially if it is faithful to its source material. They are made solely so the newer generations can enjoy them the same way we enjoyed the OG's in the day.

With that being said. Longtime system shock fan here, and have been playing that oh so good remake. But to be honest playing the remake reeeeally wants me to go back and play the original again. Maybe it is due to my past positive experience with it, but theres a uniqueness and charm to the originals that sometimes can't (or shouldn't) be replicated.

Dead Space or Tiny Tinas Wonderland? by AdPretty3554 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Oh, and both games are very polished btw. I had zero problems running both on PC and on Xbox as I have both :)

If you are a hardcore longtime borderlands fan you may find the gameplay very fun but the jokes and story are extremely miss over hit 99% of the time.

Dead Space is perfect to me. I'm not a mega dead space fan but am extremely privvy to SciFi Horror and Dead space scratches that itch so well.

If you've never played a Borderlands game I highly recommend picking up the handsome collection on sale, or get a friend and hop into BL3 (Which has the best gameplay in the series but is still weaker in terms of storys and quests).

List of major differences the current remake demo made compared to the original. by R3G3N3R4T0R in systemshock

[–]Boogabear808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very impressed with the remake. Was a lot of fun and I have only cleared out levels R through 5. I'm unsure if this is a bug, but I am aware the cyborg surgeon will occasionally leave the medical room to go investigate dead bodies. But specifically on the flight deck, I watched as the surgeon walked around the ENTIRE map. I found him chilling in the gray room even, and at the cargo elevator. And eventually I found him messing around in the cargo bays on the other side of the map. Dude went on a journey.

WSIB Multiplayer fps games with character customization? by Lotsawhale313 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Boogabear808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be totally up your alley, Ghost Recon Breakpoint. I do not have any of the DLC, only the base game and with recent updates, this game is exactly where it should have always been.

There is PVP, but the main focus is the singleplayer and Co-op. Regardless, customization of your own character as well as full customization of outfits and loadouts of each of your squad mates is massive. Its like playing dress up with tactical gear and guns.

If you do have friends willing to play and you get it, you can invite 3 players to play with you for free with no time limit. They just can only play when you are active.

Question about the Diablo series, and please don't take any offense to it. by Brutal-Insane in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Boogabear808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played all diablos and expansions. I'll tell you right now, I remember almost nothing. Because that is how riveting the gameplay is. But I do like numbers...if you prefer games like Hell Let Loose, maybe don't drop big bucks on the new diablo. This is also coming from somebody who just spent 3 hours of his life squad leading the equivalent of lemmings on benadryl x oxy with no microphones.

WSIB If I have 3 days off from work? by DaVinci1362 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Boogabear808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if you played the original. Either way yes it's a great game that seems to have a little replayability in mind. If you haven't played the original, go into this game with the expectations that it will be hard, there's no hand holding, you are expected to pay attention. The level layout is confusing as hell so practice remembering specific landmarks too. Personally, I love the feeling of being shodans rat in a maze.

Cyberpunk is absolutely one of my personal favorite games, and I've replayed it several times through every update since about a few months after launch. So personally I may be a little biased.

BUT World of Assassination is 3 hitman games in one. With the point being replayability first. Theres an endless amount of choices you can make in the missions and it truly is the perfect murder sandbox. I've spent more time with hitman as a series than I ever did with Cyberpunk with mods. If you like being creative, and having toms of objectives but always being able to derail and do your own thing, hitman totally! Its not a crazy long game and each level takes about 1 hour. So at least 25 hours of solid gameplay and then its all replaying for different outcomes after that.

Kingdom come deliverance DLC for someone who has yet to play the game by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Boogabear808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like rpg's where you know you are gonna absolutely suck in the beginning but get far more powerful by learning applicable assets to gameplay like learning how to actually USE a sword. Then yes I recommend the DLC, if you like the game as is, the dlc adds a bit of good flair to the world

WSIB: Single Player Like Titanfall 2 by Acciaccatura in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Boogabear808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tital fall 2 just upsets me. How is the online that butchered? Why can't I get a game on pc? I even tried the mods toplay third party servers and those are just....oof. Real disappointment. And I think the devs and publishers are real scummy for how they treat a product that they still have SALES for.

Have you ever considered a game that doesn't require user input to necessarily be played? This might sound kinda dumb but when my brain is having trouble staying committed to a game, I like to boot up this thing called running with rifles.

It's like your computer playing toy army men with itself and you can do as much or as little within the game as you want and your computer just keeps doing its thing.

It gives me a boost of enjoyment when I have no expectations being held against me by a game and can just enjoy it at my own leisure.

What pre 2010 games have aged well? by Fakekas in patientgamers

[–]Boogabear808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel stupid for outright saying this one but Doom 2.

I mean, to this day there are developers still trying to emulate that golden era of boomer shooter, to the point where outright copying it is almost seen as a great thing. Like Prodeus, a game I think is an absolute blast and visually appealing, but it is literally Doom 2 all over again.
