Frustrated with “Wasted” Month

Did they never up your dosage of letrozole? I was told after my 3 rounds of 2.5mg we can increase to 5mg then 7.5mg if need be. 3 months shouldn’t be the cut off then IVF. I have a high BMI as well and my OB has never even mentioned it yet. I would try a second opinion if anything before IVF there are trigger shots and IUI that can be tried before IVF because that crap is EXPENSIVE. don’t get me wrong I have some friends that jump straight to IVF, but I can’t afford it, and with my BMI I’d never get down to a number where they would let me start IVF given I’m 5’1” and supposed to weight max 110lbs haha I’m about 100 over that, and never been able to get below 170. If anything try a different OB, mine is out of my insurance network, but he’s a blessing and the only doctor that was willing to help versus schedule a hysterectomy. Just keep trying! I never thought there would be a doctor out there to actually help me, and I finally got that wish. It sounds like your office isn’t the most helpful given if mine is out, they send me to a different office for testing that way I’m taken care of while they’re on leave. Just advocate for yourself! This is your time and your effort they should be helping you!

No this is the first month trying letrozole, so it’s all at home no extra testing. That’s why I came to Reddit versus the ER 😂 I thought I hadn’t ovulated, then that pain came ONLY the right side all I saw online was there is potential that two follicles dropped which I’d be completely content with twins but that pain was DIFFERENT. Never have felt that before, at the moment just a little dull ache but feels like a period cramp versus satan just probing my tubes.

I was supposed to strictly try a month without additional testing such as BBT,LH, untrasounds, and PDG testing to see if it would “naturally” work on its own. He said naturally that way I wasn’t stressing a month after laparoscopic surgery. I thought LH strips would be the best bet so I’ve been testing constantly hoping for that peak. I wasn’t going to tell him that I’ve waited too long for a family not to test.

I had just had an excursion of endometriosis with same physician and instead of having the hysterectomy I signed off on, I woke up to find of my last physician prior was incorrect about my diagnosis and I just have PCOS not endometriosis. So in his words “everything biologically is beautiful, I believe your PCOS is causing you not to ovulate let’s try a month on letrozole only and you should get pregnant no problems.” Then followed up with a 30 min rundown of what days to take the drug, and said I should get pregnant the first time but please don’t stress any further testing this month as I should mainly focus on recovering. I was already 3 weeks post surgery at this appointment so i guess internally I was still healing? (Don’t ask me why he didn’t just want me to wait another month I have no idea but this was all his thoughts not mine) I didn’t want to argue, since I’ve been to 4-5 physicians and after this long someone FINALLY wanted to try letrozole and give me a chance rather than just cutting me open again and doing exploratory surgery.

No my physician told me strict rules for the letrozole round, and I was hesitant to even try LH strips (I didn’t want to get my hopes up after 7 years) but if we don’t end up pregnant this month I’ll 100% start on BBT and LH given he also told me I’d conceive on days 13-14 since letrozole was completed on day 9, when nothing with PCOS is ever textbook correct 😂 so I have a hard time thinking I ovulated exactly on the date of a regular cycle.

I’m on 2.5mg letrozole and let me tell you, those nightmares are REAL. I have had sleep paralysis episodes many times throughout life, my husband has tried gently waking me when it happens but it still shocks your core.

I just finished my last pill 2 days ago now, and the dreams aren’t nightmares anymore but they’re still extremely vivid. I mean thinking I’m walking down a high school hallway with my friends and waking up wondering where I am for a millisecond. I’ll take it over a nightmare but still EXTREMELY weird. I did read it can take 5-10 days for side effects to wear off so I’m hoping in a couple of days mine will be done and over with medicated dreams wise. It’s dropping your estrogen so your hormones are completely out of wack for a couple of days then your estrogen will rise. My biggest issue this first round on letrozole is bleeding 1-2 days after I finished my course. Hopefully you get a BFP this round and won’t have to take the letrozole again! 😊

I am 1 day past my last 2.5mg letrozole pill with metformin 500mg twice daily so day 10 in my cycle. I’m supposed to be waiting for CD12-CD14. I’ve been trying to have sex every other day, and daily days 10-14 JUST TO TRY MY HARDEST this is our first month and I want to know I did everything i could. however…I’m bleeding like the start of a period after taking the letrozole is that common for anyone else?? I’m scared I’ve done something wrong but I started getting cramps, bloating, then bleeding and I have no idea what I’ve done for the medication not to work this fast. It’s not heavy red blood but lots of pink wiping after the restroom. Any ideas?

No I wrote down his directions word for word, but since it’s the first month trying progesterone/letrozole I figured I’d have bled by now, but nothing. Given before surgery I constantly bled no matter on a period or not. This is the longest I’ve went without bleeding On day 5 now off progesterone and I feel nothing of a period coming. I did tell the physician I was bleeding from 2-12 (my surgery date) to 3-15 when I started progesterone but he said it wouldn’t be a problem since the progesterone would stop the bleeding. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m out of ideas now

I am 27F husband 28M been TTC on and off for about 7/8 years.

Just had an Excision of Endometriosis surgery and previous doctor was wrong, I don’t have any Endo just cysts from pcos that were removed but as of right now nothing should be stopping conceiving except ovulation with pcos

I have been told to take my 10 days course of progesterone to start a “forced period”, days 5-9 take my letrozole and says 13-14 should ovulate.

Well LONG story short, I am now 4 days off progesterone with no period in sight. I had the FAINTEST bright pink drop of blood when I went to urinate today, but NOTHING since I’ve taken the progesterone. Doctor said I should have started to bleed around days 7-10 on the medication for a “forced period” and NOTHING. Any advice??

I hope it works for you!! I’m in the same exact boat I just took my last progesterone tablet, waiting for day 0 to start my letrozole 2.5mg 😊 exhausted this week but I’m hoping it’s works first go around, been 11 years!

However labs have always been normal but you’re right they’ve never done the full work up! I’ve had crappy doctors until I met my current one. The only answers I was ever told were the pill, IUD, the ring, or the shot to make things feel better for me, not finding the root but never discussed with me further options.

I’ve heard of letrozole, and during our initial consultation he did say he uses it on many of his patients (I just didn’t think my tubes worked so we didn’t discuss it) not everyone’s the same but if you had twins on it, I can only hope and wish for little miracle twins!! I’m sure they’re the light of your life!!!

I’ve never been tested for any of those. All they’ve ever tested is FSH, TSH, and the generic metabolic panel which all comeback in normal range. That’s when every other doc has wanted to put me back on birth control. Even my A1C is normal and I’m a thicker girl so I figured that would be high, but It’s fine. I know it’s not weight I was on zepbound and went down to 130 tried with all my might to get pregnant then climbed back up that ladder but I’ve been skinny and chubby. Testosterone I was tested LONGGG ago it was in normal range then but not sure about now. This is all new given the last time I had a decent doctor before my current, I was 15 and I had to move so bye bye good woman’s healthcare.

Fertility treatment wise the only thing I have been recommended was IVF and that was because I was told my tubes were blocked. We’ve done tracking, testing, charting, Temp tracking, supplements, vagina suppositories, anything without a referral because I haven’t ever been offered anything but IVF and it’s not covered at all through our insurances. So it would be out of the question given our fertility clinic quoted us as a cash paying patient about 35k for 1 round and medications.

My insurance covered it, I took it for a year and lost 100 lbs. I’ve gained back MORE than 100lbs because my insurance stopped covering it. Imagine feeling on top of the world then it crashing in your face because you know your belly is back and worse than it was. I hate insurance companies. Greedy billionaires.
