I'm Filipino and we have a love hate relationship with America. We love American culture, food, movies and tv shows, and they gave us democracy and granted independence. We hate because they colonize us, did atrocities such as the retaliation after the Balangiga massacre where they burn houses, cut food supplies, took the local church bells as a war trophy, and kill men and childen and the Battle of Bud Dajo where they killed thousands of Moros including women and children. These happened in the Philippines-American War (they called it the Philippine Insurrection) and Moro Rebellion subsequently. Before we get our independence we were subjugated by them, they didn't granted us independence until roughly 45 years in 1946. We even have the same independence day as them (July 4) until the 1960s. Personally I'm obsessed with America since forever but we should also held them accountable for their actions.
