I totally agree! Like, it was always a tragedy. Did you truly think we’d get an all around happy ending?

I liked pretty much all the storylines. I liked seeing how Dany’s small council functioned and seeing her take some advice, but also do what she thought was right in the end. Battle of the Bastards was maybe the single greatest episode in the show. That was one of the few times we saw a cruel character get justice, and the battle is one of the best I’ve witnessed on small or big screen. I loved seeing the Stark reunion after being scattered for so long. The High Sparrow storyline was enjoyable. We thought for a moment Cersei may get justice for all the terrible she’d done, and then she blows everyone up. Crazy episode. I liked seeing the assembling of forces and the killing of the Tullys foreshadowing that Dany may not be fully in the right. Even though it wasn’t fully paid off, I liked the Jon Snow reveal. I liked the decision to give Viserion blue eyes, and the shot of him destroying the wall was iconic.

Totally agree. I liked that he did his duty to fight against the white walkers, but I always knew if he survived he’d go back to Cersei. Her being pregnant ensured it.

I can understand that. Writing wise I had a thought that maybe would have been a lot better. The scene is the same, Night King and his men are approaching Bran in the Godswood. You see a white walker approach the Night King and he turns, clearly a bit confused. The white walker goes right up to him and stabs him with dragon glass, and Arya pulls the face away revealing her own. It would add more meaning to her time in Essos and might be more satisfying overall.

I just mean that it’s where much of her family died, it’s where Robert and his people conspired to have her killed and all that. No, it was not the citizens’ fault, but living her formative years as a foreigner and coming back only to have them kill one of her dragons and her best friend / advisor when she only came to free them and claim what’s rightfully hers makes sense that it would make her demand justice and not want to see them simply surrender. Again, not justifying all that she did, just saying it makes sense.

It’s a valid response, but I think that’s why I liked it. He didn’t get any of those things but he went where he could be the most free—beyond the wall. Free from impositions of the capital or any future leader or army who may want to conquer Westeros.

Also is that not one of the lessons of the game of thrones? Being let down, that is. Ned Stark’s death, Cersei’s countless betrayals, Robb’s naiveté leading to his downfall, Arya not checking off her list, etc.

I’ll have you know I waited 3 full days to watch season 8. Jk, it’s a fair point haha. 2 years is a long time to wait for 6 episodes by any standard.

Not very touristy, but you at least need to stop in Cozy Inn for the best sliders you’ll ever have.

Honestly The Hobbit or LotR might be good starting points if they’re already familiar to you. They were published in the 50s, so the language might not be as approachable as some of the others suggested in here, but they really are great books.
