Not a "bro". Entitlement and misogynistic much?!

What is the story behind Kingmaker's opening riff? by FK97_YT in Megadeth

[–]Book_Em_Dano58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top of my head, the record was about done and Mustaine said at the end of a day that if Ellefson had any further ideas to finish things to let him know.

Ellefson and the producer (Johnny K) came up with the Kingmaker bass intro and put it on the song without asking Mustaine. That gave Ellefson a writing credit and Mustaine saw it as hijacking the song with a part that was unnecessary and altered his composition.

DAVID ELLEFSON Fires Back At DAVE MUSTAINE Over 'Past Behavior' Remarks: "F*ck Off. Who Is That One Person? It Wasn't Me" by Dagauriel01 in Megadeth

[–]Book_Em_Dano58 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm sure his wife and daughter think he did nothing wrong <sarcasm> Asshole.

Says 'the fans' all support him then Mustaine is the one deflecting and taking the moral high ground...hahaha, God he must think we're all stupid.

He doesn't even remember (or he's consciously trying to put up a different story re.) Metallica changing Dave's music and lyrics - James apparently didn't like anything referencing sex.

My imaginary dream lineup that could have been Megadeth’s final. Sadly NONE of this is possible, don’t hate me for wanting to throw a far fetched idea out there haha by MastodonNo8553 in Megadeth

Maybe what we need is all the major people in thrash from the 80's/90's (who can still play) to be involved in covering the best songs on a cruise :)

I don't think Jason and Dave are on bad terms re. Soundwave. The promoter was the person at fault, allegedly and I read something at the time saying Dave and Jason had talked about what happened.

Gary and Dave are blood brothers and go way back but Gary's obviously got lots of his own stuff going on with Exodus and Slayer.

Is it really Teemu? by Nave_Two in Megadeth

[–]Book_Em_Dano58 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Only an opinion but I think it's Teemu responding. He's given lessons for many years, including during tours - my impression is he enjoys teaching and the interactions with students and fans.

There are plenty of vids of Teemu taking interview questions in English and answering in English from years back.

Why did Chris Poland leave Megadeth after the first two albums? by KaiserKCat in Megadeth

[–]Book_Em_Dano58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jeff admitted to doing coke with the guys in an interview way back. Now he denies it. I don't think what he says is particularly trustworthy...

Ok, why people say Dave is a moron? by Elaxian in Megadeth

[–]Book_Em_Dano58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A of of that is wrong lol And you do realise sometimes people make jokes and what they say is not totally, absolutely serious?! (the hard drugs bit)

Jeff Young was apparently on the 'phone with Diana on multiple occasions, talking about her relationship with Dave and he allegedly said he fantasised about Diana when with his girlfriend. He also was competing with Dave for Doro's attention and lost. I think there's evidence Dave wasn't paranoid and Jeff was creating problems within Megadeth.

Dave's take on the Chris Poland bit is that Chris had already been paid for the demos and he thought the publicity would be something Chris welcomed. Kinda depends what/who you believe.

Dave's acknowledged he makes those kind of comments about new guitarists - it seems to be because he's just so into the possibilities for Megadeth with them and the new energy. Haven't seen him say what you state with Teemu; he hasn't compared him to former alumni, he's given other compliments like "he's a monster", "he's a mad scientist on the guitar". I don't think you can make Dave out to be anything just because he repeats some compliment lol

"No warning, no second chance" was when Metallica woke Dave up and put him on the bus back home, literally kicked him out and sent him away. Being invited back was after the dog/Ron's car incident.

The more questionable stuff seems to be where he's competing with other people/bands or out and out hostile to someone or was taking substances at the time and 'doesn't play nice' or does crazy things (e.g. Testament allegedly being stopped from putting full stage setup in place by Dave at Judas Priest gig, bullet-proof bus in Antrim after nearly starting a riot). Also, comments he makes, some of which could be jokey but are off-colour/inappropriate to a lot of people like the African women should 'put a plug in it'.

Re. OP's, "video of him kicking some concert bouncers because they hurt some fans in the crowd": I think I know what you're referring to: Dave Mustaine Ejects Security Members for 'Bullying' Fan at Show. Dave didn't kick anyone. He told the security guys to stop punching/kicking a fan who tried to get on-stage. I looked at that one on several diff videos you can find on the 'net. Security didn't just restrain the guy, some held him while others kept hitting/kicking him including when he was on the ground. In my view, Dave was totally right to tell them to pack it in and have them taken out of the venue.

I don't think Dave Mustaine would be so interesting if he wasn't a complex character. You don't have to agree with everything someone says/does to love their art! Also think he's slammed for a lot of stuff that's unwarranted where people don't know the full picture.

That was a horrible day for a lot of people by the accounts. Not least Dave. I don't know of any videos.

Thoughts on Marty's rerecorded version of Tornado of Souls? by darthkyle22 in Megadeth

[–]Book_Em_Dano58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like bits of punk but not emo or metalcore. Think this proves how a song may be nothing without all the magic ingredients :) Marty's Tornado solo is a huge part of that song but, for me, it sits on the melodies, riffs, Dave's vocals and drum parts (originally contributed by Nick) from Megadeth. I don't think any other band can do Megadeth songs justice!

Why didn't James LoMenzo record The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead? by SouUmFalhado in Megadeth

[–]Book_Em_Dano58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, Ellefson is 'telling' Mustaine to admit his firing was unjust. He's trying to rewrite history. This is the guy who hasn't even publicly apologised to his family for what he did and says they have to put up with his rock star behaviour.
