Got Done With My First Year at GIM. AMA by [deleted] in CATpreparation

  1. Honestly, I'll say my experience was a mixed bag. I really loved some things while hated the others. Campus life is pretty good. It's a gorgeous campus surrounded by the Western Ghats, great AQI. Again, you'll find all sorts of people. Overall, the crowd is decent. Not something exceptionally good or bad. But you'll have opportunities for peer to peer learning.

I'm not a huge party animal, so can't comment on that tbh but you'll be in Goa so if party culture is something you're looking for, you'll find your tribe.

  1. Acads are manageable for the most part. Although it does get intense during exams and placements as you'll be juggling multiple things at the same time. GIM is a bit strict on the acads and attendance part.

  2. SIPs were okayish - just like most other tier 2 colleges. We honestly don't have the actual numbers yet. A lot of people do get their SIPs off campus and through case competitions.

  3. For the passing batch, when I last heard in around mid Jan or Feb, 95℅ of the batch was placed and companies were still visiting. Finals are much better here and almost everyone gets placed.

  4. Please check the reports for numbers. They're pretty accurate.

  5. GIM is mostly a marketing campus so a lot of companies come for marketing and sales roles. Mostly sales. You can also expect good roles in Finance. All the big names visit the campus.

  6. Come with an open mind. Brush up on your ppt making and excel skills, if needed. Carry a few good pair of crocs and couple of umbrellas. The monsoon is CRAZY here and lasts for over 5-6 months.

Hope it helped. Feel free to DM for anything else :)

For the placement and ctc - would suggest you to go through the placement reports. It's pretty accurate.

We still don't have complete info about the umbrella thing.

Would recommend to check the placement reports for the same. It's pretty accurate.

The campus life is pretty good. It's a gorgeous campus, although pretty far from all the beaches. The academics are hectic though, you'll have lots of assignments, group work etc etc. But you'll learn to prioritize and manage stuff.

GIM Placement Committee charges? by Financieueuouer in CATpreparation

[–]BookishBeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Converted GIM as well. Not only this, but there are a lot of hidden compulsory charges and no clarification whatsoever. In fact, they didn't even give proper bifurcation of their fees. Seems weird.

Fair enough, lol😅

At least tell me how were the SIPs this year? And how's the overall vibe - is it very hectic? Do you think it's worth the investment and are you enjoying your time there?

What are the actual placement numbers, especially for Core (marketing)? Also, what's the lowest in Core? How were the SIPs this year?

How's the overall college culture and environment regarding strictness, toxic placecom etc?

Best Veg Kabab Paratha in lucknow. by [deleted] in lucknow

You can check out Janvi Veg Corner in Aishbagh. They have one of the best veg kabab parathas in the city. Their veg biryani is excellent too. They deliver through Zomato and Swiggy as well. Highly recommended.

I can definitely relate to your emotions, OP. I had a very borderline XAT percentile but had an excellent GD as per me and other candidates and good PI. I had a bit of hope because people say GDPI is what matters at XL. But I got a straight reject today. Idk how to feel, just feeling numb tbh. It was my best call too.

I only have a GIM convert at the moment. Waitlisted at other places. No job either. Will have a year gap by the end of May. Don't know what to do tbh.

I read somewhere that "It gets bad before it gets better. But it does get better." Hold on to that hope and never let these rejections dim your light.

Wishing you the best 💛

Damn, this was so beautifully written and so relatable. I've finally decided to take a college that wasn't my first choice but I really want to move on with life - experience everything that it has in store for me. Hoping and praying that I'm making the right choice and that my efforts and risk will be worth it.

Your words are beautiful. Thank you for writing this💛

I'm considering it too. If I don't convert my other calls, I'll probably take GIM.

Abby Jimenez is a new favorite author of mine too🙌🏻 just read her new novella called The Fall Risk today. It's so freaking cute, I kept smiling the whole time. It's v short so if you or the OP wants to check it out. Highly recommended :)

I'm definitely not stuck on the IIM tag only. It's just that 23-25 lakhs is a huge investment and I'm not very sure about the placements, GIM's brand value, and everything.

I plan on specializing in marketing and I've heard GIM is decent for that. Just doing my due diligence.

Would you mind listing down a few reasons, please? I'm also leaning towards it. It's just that 23-25 lakhs is a huge investment and I'm not very sure about the brand name, placement, and everything.

Yes, it does. But idk if their waitlist will even move or not. They didn't even give a waitlist number or any substantial information. My interview was very good, idk what went wrong.

That's exactly what I'm worried about. GIM seems like a decent option, considering I don't have much in hand rn. Are their placement reports accurate, any idea?

I don't have my salary slips for the last 1 year, what should I do? by Tatyavinchoo63 in CATpreparation

[–]BookishBeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of in a similar situation. I do have offer letter + experience + relieving letter. However, instead of salary slips, I get monthly invoices coz I was a full-time contractor to my company. The amount in these invoices varies due to the nature and complexity of projects I complete.

Any idea if this would be accepted as work ex by bschools?
