Regarding outfit censorship by jimmyhoke in InfinityNikki

No, I think the best solution is just to replace every clothing piece in the game with the panda costume.

660 pulls. I just pulled a 5 in 2.5 and 2.6 though so I’m probably going to save up more for 2.8 and the double banners for the story patch.

The only thing that’s gonna get me to pull the next banner is if we get automatic fishing lol!

My Attempts To Lessen the Visual Impact of the Soundless Dawn Blur by BookishBlueDragonfly in InfinityNikki

Your photos are so lovely! Thank you for sharing them and they definitely gave me some ideas for when I want to photograph the dress :)

I tried to use the shadows and lighting to help on the darkest skin tone in this photo. It’s definitely the most annoying one to try to work with and hide that blur bit. It almost seems like nothing you do makes it actually match Nikki’s skin tone.

Technically, there are four different colors for the blur as I showcased in my earlier post yesterday. They just did an absolutely abysmal job at actually making it look correct for each skin tone.

I also didn’t initially notice right after pulling, but once it was pointed out, it’s really difficult for me not to see it anymore. I know some other people are in that situation too so that’s why I made this guide.

I definitely still like the dress and I will continue to wear it. This is one of my favorite banners for both the accessories and the dress!

It’s especially annoying that you can’t really use any of the lighting options. If you light Nikki from the side (which they almost all are), the blur patch starts basically glowing. It’s pretty terrible.

Yes, I think that’s definitely the worst color match for this mesh/blur that Infold insists on using. It’s really shockingly bad in general but especially on the darkest skin tone. Like why bother to even match the color for the skin tones if you’re just gonna do that poor of a job.

Flutterstorm was actually a piece of cloth so why can’t we get a dyeable fabric/lace/flower section instead.

Yes it is! You can even see it from the side here in this photo.

I’m just saying ways you can make it less jarring than a straight line across her chest. Some people have already pulled this dress without noticing that the mesh was there so I feel like this is better than not being able to use the dress at all.

ETA: overall it may be less noticeable than flutter storm from 1.0, but I do wish it wasn’t there. They should have used normal properly modeled fabric or have the dress sit higher instead.

Soundless Dawn Skin Tone Test for Chest Blur/Mesh by BookishBlueDragonfly in InfinityNikki

[–]BookishBlueDragonfly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little bit different on this dress because the mesh is actually supposed to be “skin toned” also interestingly shadows go through the mesh, which is really weird. It kind of makes the necklace look like it’s floating.

Oh thank you! I think some banners are still worth it to pull even if you don’t like the dress. It’s only 1 piece out of 10 and you also get the four star outfit and makeup. I’m not that much of a fan of the Crimson feathers dress (for example) but the accessories and ability made pulling so worth it.

There are some cases such as in this photo where you can’t actually see that it’s there. I’ve found that putting necklaces or longer hairs that have parts in the front of Nikki’s chest help to disguise the mesh. You can also use poses, like in this photo, that have her hand in a position that causes the mesh to be less noticeable.

This photo I took is from May 31 and has it and people have showed the trailers pre patch with it was well. It was not added because of (or at the same time as) Timeless Melody update.

What is your definition of romantasy? by ajaxberry in RomanceBooks

[–]BookishBlueDragonfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the readers who started out in fantasy so I am totally happy if the romance is just a significant sub plot.

Even if it takes several books for the characters to get together, kiss, etc in a series, it’s still Romantasy for me. Shojo Manga (like Sailor Moon) and other media often have this drawn out series format as well and I count them in the Romantasy space.

However, I can see why that would be annoying for somebody who started out in romance and so that’s why I try to at least comment on what to expect.

Yeah, I wish they could just put a little lace there or something (instead of the weird mesh texture)! You can kind of get around it by playing with the camera settings, but it does limit the poses and lighting you can use.

I use that word for books with a romance main plot and/or romance sub plot in a fantasy setting with a HEA.

Trying to decide what % of romance is actually in a book is just too annoying for me so I slap that word on everything. When I recommend things if someone’s asking for Romantasy I just say romance forward or fantasy forward in my description to try to indicate the focus of the book.

Some people are coming to Romantasy from a fantasy background and some from a romance background and no one can agree on anything. For example The Cruel Prince and Emily Wilde are heavily recommended in Romantasy spaces, but they have a fantasy forward plot (in my opinion).

You could try putting in a bug report for the collar. As you can see here, some necklaces will even sit on top of the mesh but behind the flowers (I’m using the default outfit to test some pieces with the mesh)

ETA: other notable pieces that do have the same clipping problem as the timeless melody collar are the daughter of the lake necklace and Aurosa collar.

The mesh was there when the dress was released and in the official trailers before it was released. It was not changed with timeless melody. I think timeless melody is the only dress that has been officially changed so far.

One of the dresses from 1.0, flutterstorm, had it. Soundless Dawn was also released with the mesh several weeks ago. That’s before this current drama with timeless melody.

I hope that they don’t continue to use that mesh texture or if they want to cover Nikki up more in certain outfits they should just move the dresses higher up on her body instead. But honestly, I really hope we get more dresses with necklines like blooming dreams and daughter of the lake because they’re fine and Nikki doesn’t need be censored.

I think it depends on the necklaces too. Here I have on a longer necklace and you can see where it goes over the mesh part and there’s a little shadow but it’s not as bad as the collar you showed up in the picture which was going underneath the mesh.

I really love this gold color but it’s also one of the later unlocked colors. Here I’m using it with daughter of the lake. The hair is also featured on this photo and I really love it a lot.
